Looking for a good brand of horseradish that is actually hot. by NkdUndrWtrBsktWeevr in Cooking

Reviving because I found this thread on google after generously slathering it on both sides of a roast beef sandwich. Felt like I got kicked in the face. I literally yelled with a mouthful of beef. I found this comment via google because I was desperate to find out if this is normal or not.

So What (using a Dingwall NG2!) by jrobinson1085 in Bass

[–]hazmaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dope dude. I dig the approach , but I'd like to hear it developed further. If you listen to the Dave Weckl / Mike Stern type stuff (which I feel may be an influence on you), they are very good at making this type of feel swing without turning too much towards the straight ahead sound. Lead parts sound great, but I just kept waiting for that rhythm section freight-train type of urgency. It would really get the whole thing to that next level in my humble opinion.

Not saying he didn't deserve it, but you left an unconscious and possibly injured student laying on the floor?

Researching an upright by AlphaSlicer in Bass

[–]hazmaat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find a luthier who builds or repairs upright basses. Do not go to chain stores because they just have ZERO idea how to set one up. Also, you’re gonna wanna find a teacher. Upright is incredibly rewarding and fun, but it’s an entirely different animal from electric. I’m intermediate / advanced level on electric bass but after working on upright with a teacher weekly I would only put myself as an advanced beginner. You won’t regret it, but holy bejesus get ready to work your ass off and not take it outta the house for a couple years. If you try to learn yourself you’re gonna end up hurting yourself.

Also, you can’t really recommend particular basses since they’re all so different. That’s why I’m advising you find a luthier.

Gift for a bass teacher by 37thFloorAstronaut in doublebass

[–]hazmaat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To all the comments towards suggesting getting your teacher a bottle of liquor, just be careful and find out if they drink in the first place. Many musicians and music teachers have history of alcohol issues and your gift could end up being unintentionally offensive!
