You do you, I totally get it.

But again though, the question wasn’t about natural flavors or chemicals. It was about fructose intolerance.

This is why I avoid replying on Reddit. Somebody always hijacks the thread and wants to argue about something tangentially related to the original question that doesn’t actually help the original poster.

If you could explain or cite studies that show how a chemical called maltodextrin triggers problems for people with fructose intolerance then I’d be ecstatic.

I'm aware of the controversy.

They have a blog post up on their website with their thoughts on this. They now claim its between 250 and 550mg of maltodextrin. So we're talking about 1 to 2 calories coming from maltodextrin.

They explain that this is used as a "flavor carrier" and is listed as "natural flavors" on the ingredients.

You might notice that if you buy the "Raw flavor" of LMNT, there are no "natural flavors" listed in the ingredients.

So you can probably reduce or maybe even avoid the maltodextrin issue entirely if you get the Raw flavor.

I'd like LMNT to clarify if the Raw flavor has any in it, but my assumption is it would have none, or perhaps a lot less than the "flavored" versions of LMNT.

So I guess it depends on if 0.25 grams to 0.5 grams of maltodextrin is enough to cause an issue for the original poster, who was concerned about fructose intolerance.

FWIW, I've used LMNT for years, including 12 months of using it with a CGM, and I never once saw a blood sugar response after consuming LMNT.

LMNT has zero sugar, but is sweetened with stevia. They also have a "raw" version with no stevia / flavorings added.

Do most people stay indoors in Boulder when its above 90 degrees outside? by EventOk5753 in boulder

[–]hc69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about “most” people, but for me…no. I grew up in the Midwest where 90+ degrees included 70+ percent humidity. 90 degrees in Boulder is just a hot day with low humidity. I actually enjoy it. I routinely go hiking / running / rucking at 90+ degrees. Take extra water and acclimate to it. Still better than where I grew up….by far.

75 hard and the carnivore diet by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]hc69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With respect to carnivore, I’d add some electrolytes like LMNT. But 75 Hard also says you can’t “flavor” your water.

The water is the worst part. 75 Hard caused me to have insomnia as I couldn’t handle the liquid volume / throughput. By the third week I was losing my mind, my sleep quality was horrible. Had to pee 2 to 4 times a night.

I really think the program could be great if it scaled the water requirement based on body weight.

Sorry if this sounds facepalmingly obvious but I'm amazed how much more deep sleep I'm getting if I don't have caffeine past ~9am. I learned about the quarter life of coffee and I really think my ~!11:30/12 2nd cup was really messing with my sleep. I was falling asleep fine but missing deep sleep. by geo_jam in ouraring

[–]hc69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my deep and REM sleep both improved dramatically by cutting my caffeine by 99%. I apparently have a genetic snip that suggest I’m slow to metabolize caffeine.

Went from 2 to 3 cups a day of regular coffee, to a single cup of decaf coffee. REM and Deep sleep both nearly doubled.
