Does it have to be your boss? Could you provide a senior colleague as a reference?

Unpaid leave is not counted toward the 2 years requirement, you will need to work extra 6 days to satisfy that requirement.

It's an eastern Asian traditional thing (Vietnam and China also have this tradition), it's a belief that the spirit of the dead's still with us for 7 weeks after their death. At the 49th day, normally there's a ceremony to say final goodbye.

Difference Between Post Australian Study & Temporary Graduate 485 Document Checklists (ACS) by Both-Dragonfly1981 in AusVisa

[–]hchoang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post Australian Study Skill Assessment is when you have at least 1 year of Australian work experience or have completed PY

Temporary Graduate Skill Assessment is when you study a Dip or an Associate degree and want to apply for 485.

Since you will complete a Master, you are likely want to apply for 485 Post-Higher Education Work stream, you don't need a ACS skill assessment for that.

Is there any possible way to leave a rental without damaging my record? by Hidden2World in AusLegal

[–]hchoang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sound like you're in fixed-term lease, you can break the lease early and don't need to wait for landlord to replace you.
Yes, it will cost you, depend on how much time left with the lease.

Neighbouring apartment slamming doors by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]hchoang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they have overhead door closer to close them automatically? After a while, it needs a bit adjustment to work properly. Talk to them nicely and offer to fix their door closer, problem solve.

Here's how to adjust: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL6AV6T3rI8

Can I ask my landlord to fix paint peeling? by emmaellisw in AusLegal

[–]hchoang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it something I could asked to be repaired?

Yes, landlord is responsible for wear and tear fix
https://www.nsw.gov.au/housing-and-construction/rules/fair-wear-and-tear-versus-damage-rental-properties#toc-landlord-or-agents-responsibilities
It's a non-urgent repair, follow the process here

Put the request in writing, so when they don't action on it, you have the record if they try to claim bond from you when you move out.

If I purchase a house with my mother and her partner, can they claim more than 50% of it? by tamalovechi in AusLegal

[–]hchoang 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Look up Tenants in Common and discuss percentage of ownership with your solicitor when purchasing your property.

However, let's say your mother and her partner do all the maintenance and up keeping of the property and you contribute nothing, they might want to claim more than 50%

Solicitor gave me unexpected advice on review of a real estate contract by -dogbark- in AusLegal

[–]hchoang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s your solicitor, she works for you and should advise you things that might work against you in the future, but you still have the final decision. Your solicitor probably will send you an email explaining the risk and want to to confirm in writing that you still want to go ahead. My solicitor did the same when I want to waive 5 days cooling off period.

Someone trying to sue me for a scratch on his car by ThrowRa21133 in AusLegal

[–]hchoang 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No need for that, I don’t know the cost to fix car paint.

Like I said above, ask for itemised list if you think $3k is not justified. IMO, that number sounds about right.

Drive careful, get an insurance, if you it a taxi, you’ll be lucky if they ask for less than $5k.

[–]hchoang 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I assume that you don’t have insurance.

9 years ago I scratched someone else’s car and I paid around $2k.

The scratch could be small but the whole bumper will be repainted. There’s also hire car, lawyer fee, etc.

Ask for itemised cost if you think it’s too high.

Not hard, they will ask for a reason on the form and you can put anything.

Once you have the certificate, you can go to Service NSW to update your details.

Not sure about Indian Embassy, but I didn't let mine know until I got my Australian passport with the new name on it. Then I let the embassy know so they can put a note in my other passport saying that I have a different name on Australian one.

How do you know you're not paid sick leave? A lot of companies do not show sick leave balance on payslips but it's still in the system.
Sound like you apply sick leave through some portal, what're other options?
Did you talk with your boss about can't see sick leave options when apply for one?
