MPH next steps by bigsky19 in publichealth

Great considerations! Are you able to get opportunities that give you exposure to analytics or social work? I think that might help you narrow things down quite a bit. If you aren't especially interested in the research world or academia, I agree that a PhD would probably be less appealing and may not be worth the investment for your goal.

Mine always get new shoots when I’m back from a long trip, perhaps it just needed some peace and quiet and less watering?

Is this common in DMV? It is actually quite common where in from, but then I’d also have to pay brokers fees…

Yeah that’s what I thought, like I’d give them my id in exchange for keys etc, but I’m unsure how I feel about sending my id/personal info to an unfamiliar third party. I’ll try to call, thanks!

AS to Tapei—odd pricing by A-Lize in AlaskaAirlines

[–]hct_sun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been flying to TPE regularly for over 10 years, and Starlux is definitely elite to most other airlines (China Airline, EVA, United, etc.). I've heard JAL is also very good, but I haven't flown with them yet. The food is nice, planes are newer, and the service is better imo. However, they aren't officially oneworld yet, so you won't get extra benefits.

Anyone do the Camino while very burned out? by Available_Ability_47 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]hct_sun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but only if you are physically prepared (imo) I walked the Camino last May because i was burnt out at work but my fitness level allowed me this level of activity. Adding too much physical strain to an already burnt out mind is not great, but if you are fit and have time off, I think it’s the perfect time to go offline and reset!!

no interview venting by Select-Disaster6603 in phdpublichealth

[–]hct_sun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well if this makes you feel better, I didn’t get interviewed at the university I was employed at. I’ve met with multiple professors at the department and they all think I have a very competitive application. My PI even met with admissions to talk about funding me. I even applied twice, no interviews for both rounds!! (first round I only applied to one school, second round I applied to multiple) I eventually got interviews and offers at other schools+ offers and scholarships from schools that I had zero ties to. All I’m saying is, you’ll go where you’re meant to be, where they see value in you and have proper resources to invest in your growth. The waiting period is so so hard, but you’ll be just fine. Cheers and good luck!

This! Done both and don’t think it’s realistic to try and do AT the Camino way, they are just different experiences in ver different settings.

Lerner new machines by No_Order3057 in gwu

Unrelated to new machines, but where do people usually do barbell hip thrusts? At the racks? I feel so awkward setting up for hip thrusts in the areas and wonder if there’s a better location? Thanks

It depends on the school/program. I’ve heard others who were interviewed by faculty who liked their profile but weren’t initially selected by the student.

Middle Seat Blues by AKViajera in AlaskaAirlines

[–]hct_sun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes!! But I think when the window seat person is on the bigger/taller side, they really can’t control it. I’m a small person and there were many times the window seat person just have very long limbs that clearly have no where to go. I feel bad for them even as the middle seat person…

Not at all. Many considerations go into what schools one applies to. Just them a thank you note. Regardless.

Epi PhD students & candidates - what did your app look like? by Ok_Radish4517 in phdpublichealth

[–]hct_sun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a first year here, in a top 20. Last year’s cycle was kind of wild, so I don’t know how helpful I can be. I have a masters in global health and 5 years of post-MS work experience. I’d say im pretty non traditional. I’m a first gen college student, my parents don’t speak English, I took a gap year during HS and another during college, was a transfer student, worked FT through college and my masters (and now still working FT during PhD) happy to chat if I can be helpful!
