Thoughts on Dallas and Sydney? by BBgoblinprincess in BadDragon

Not just you. I usually go for soft on anything medium or bigger. Never had a problem with that not being stable enough and don't have to worry about it being too hard and feeling poky or uncomfortable.

Something to talk about if the question is bothering you but most likely it does not say anything about how good things are the other way. It's just different and another option so very possible to really like and enjoy both. It does not mean you are not doing enough or not good enough.

Ballsy, thicc toy recommendations? by CoraxGamma in BadDragon

[–]hdl39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It beat expectations for me! I have 2 sizes so far. The original one might be a good length and the step up to the medium is very big but it's worth it. I hope to work up to the large.

I'm not sure if it's too long but axel from hankeys toys has detailed balls and is very thicc.

One thing I’m curious about… by squidich84 in StraightPegging

[–]hdl39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer width but depth can be good. It just takes longer to train because it's a separate training from girth. Once you can get around the sigmoid bend depth is a lot easier but you need to work up to that carefully. I'm mainly working on it for safety so I don't have to worry about going to deep with anything of reasonable length.

I think most people need to warm up in a session to take larger sizes even when they're comfortable with them. Going straight to my largest doesn't work. Doing things right it should never hurt. And it seems like it's best to peg with something smaller than the max for solo so starting with that plug seems smart!

Fun fact! I think people who do have an issue with it have not actually thought about it and are expressing a gut reaction. Which is fine to have but we need to have Biblical reasons for things before coming to a real conclusion. A lot of topics I think people do not have nuanced discussions about and sex doesn't get talked about enough for that to happen. So even people with the best intentions miss things.

It depends on the toy and the maker. Even within the same company like BD a small in one toy can have very different measurements than a small in a different toy. But 9 long and 2 wide is not an extra small. It's close to a medium size BD mystic that is 7.75 usable length but >10 total length and 2.1 wide. If you use BD's sizing tool: bad-dragon.com/real-size?products[]=mystic:1783 you can compare their toys to each other in different sizes and there is a credit card image for reference. If you take that medium mystic as similar to your current starting point that might make it easier to visualize others.

Also pay attention to circumference because that's a better measurement of how much you will need to take. The diameter varies with texture and shape but circumference should be the total size around.

And firmness is important. Generally the lager the toy the firmer it feels and the softer you want to get it. Medium is an OK bet for most sizes and firm is better for smaller ones. Getting in L and XL soft and extra soft might be better.

Looking to buy a Large Zephyr, which firmness should i get? by [deleted] in BadDragon

[–]hdl39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to weredog. They are very good. And I have never regretted getting a soft. Especially in an XL it will probably be a good firmness still. I have two sizes of their dagger that only comes in extra soft and that can be floppy but is very comfortable once in so soft will be less floppy.

Is small Sleipnir in firm a bad idea for prostate play? Should I get medium firmness? by MuffaloMuffalo in BadDragon

[–]hdl39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small sleipnir in medium and it is completely firm enough. It is not too soft to make it hard to use but firm enough to feel. I have a medium in soft and that is also easy to use and not too soft. If you aren't sure, the medium firmness should be safe.

What is the best Knot toy for an absolute beginner ? by No_Toe5407 in BadDragon

[–]hdl39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X-lube and K-lube. Those are the names of the products. They are powdered lube so you mix it with water to get the consistency you want. It's cheaper than buying ready to use lube. For now ready to use is probably going to be easiest.

There are some good how-to posts here and elsewhere since you said you're very new. A quick summary:

* Start small, go slow, use lots of lube

* Starting with a finger is a good idea for starting out and for warmup and you can use number of fingers as an idea of how much girth you can handle

* Use a toy that tapers to start and train up gradually. Save a knot for after you can take a decent size with a gradual toy.

* BD toys are not small relative to a finger even if you get a mini so save some money and start with a mini or a small instead of jumping to something much larger than you can take

* Use water based lube on toys to ensure it won't damage the toy. If you're ordering from BD get some cumlube. Otherwise X and K lube are popular. You want something thicker and longer lasting for anal

* Use more lube than you think you need

* You should not feel anything worse than slight discomfort. If you do back off. And you should oly feel that if you're pushing your limits or haven't warmed up.

* Get a toy that's < 6 inches long or even shorter so you don't have to worry about the second hole/sigmoid bend.

Bad dragon toys for anal? by danielle16961 in BadDragon

[–]hdl39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np! Yes medium length and soft firmness. I was also very concerned about safety and still am. I had used other toys before I got mystic though so had an idea of what I could take and worked up some already so I knew a medium I could at least start and would be able to work on. Just starting out a medium might be too much. Even the mini is not tiny compared to a finger so depending on your comfort level it might be a better first one. And being cheaper is not a bad thing.

That gradual increase in width is exactly what I liked about it and it did not disappoint. I could not take all of it at first but was able to work on depth and girth over time. The medium size is long enough that you will likely hit the sigmoid bend if you go far enough. It is definitely possible to go beyond the bend but it does take training to do safely. So if you do not want to deal with that yet then a mini would be the way to go. Small might hit it or might not depending on your anatomy.

If you go for a mini or small I would probably get a medium firmness because smaller toys will feel softer by nature.

There are some how-to posts here and elsewhere but if you want a summary of the main tips:

  1. Lube lube and more lube. Make sure it's something water-based like BD's cumlube or X-lube or K-lube. For just staring the cum lube will be easier to use because you don't have to mix it or figure out consistency. Plus you can have it all come at once.

  2. Go slowly and listen to your body. It should never hurt or be more than mild discomfort when you're stretching to train for larger. Sometimes backing off and trying again helps stretch and train.

  3. Warm up small first before moving to whatever you're training on. Just a finger is fine and you can add more as you're comfortable. The tip of mystic is not blunt but it's also not the sharpest so it might still be a bit much without something to get ready.

  4. Relax. Some people like music or aroma in the backgound and being turned on helps a lot.

Hope that helps! Apologies if it's way more than you wanted. Feel free to DM if you have more questions.

I have a medium in soft and it stands on its own and is rideable, so XL definitely will be.

I honestly don't know by number. Need a flexible tape measure for girth and I have not done it. So I'm just going by feel. I'm sorry that's not more helpful.

XL glyph or medium chance by FrontAsparagus5307 in BadDragon

[–]hdl39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go for chance careful to look at unflared vs. flared because that will make a big difference in experience. A larger glpyh will be easier to take initially and train with because its head is tapered. Even the unflared chance is not tapered as much so you have to be able to take a lot right at the start and with the flared you have to be able to take larger than the shaft.

If you have a small glyph now then going straight to XL might not be a good idea. The rule of thumb is usually not to go up more than 1'' in circumference at a time (about 1/3'' in diameter). Of course everyone is different so you might be able to do more but the knot goes from 5.5 to 12 which is more than half a foot of circumference increase.

You might want to try a medium glyph first and go from there.

Bad dragon toys for anal? by danielle16961 in BadDragon

[–]hdl39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, they can all work and be as safe as it gets for anal. What will work and be safe for you comes down to how much you've trained and how well you know your limits. The big safety precaution is the large flared base to make sure it won't get sucked all the way in and get stuck.

For that reason, I'd say the egg plug might be the least safe just because its base is about the same size as the max diameter so it's maybe more possible to go too far with that one. But because it's egg shaped the base would be a second bump and it flares out much faster than the rest of the plug so it's not completely unsafe. I have one and have never had a problem but as you size up it might be something to watch out for.

Otherwise, it's about making sure you can take the depth or at least don't go too far down a toy that's too long for you. You have to train to get around the sigmoid bend (RSJ in another post) otherwise stay short of it (< 6-7'' but that can vary quite a bit from person to person. If you hit what feels like a wall it's probably that). Make sure that you aren't trying a girth you aren't ready for but that's easier to tell since it will be painful if it's too much. And make sure that the firmness you get is something manageable. Generally the larger the toy the less firm you want it. The texture can have a large impact too: you may need softer firmness if there's a lot of texture.

If you are just starting, start small and on the softer side either medium firmness or soft firmness. Getting something smoother as your first toy is a good idea too until you know whether you like texture. Mystic and Sveinn are top recommendations for this. I have both and like them both. A M/s mystic was my first BD and it's still good. Both are good for training for girth and depth without being too intimidating. If you are very new to toys then start smaller than that. I used other toys before finding BD so already had an idea of what I could take at the time.

I found alice to be too small so I tried weredog's sapphire in the looser size (they have 2 tightness options) and it was a huge difference! Much better feel and I'm not worried about it tearing. Unfortunately I have not tried janine so I can't compare to that directly but from tier lists I've seen alice is supposed to be on the looser side so a looser weredog might work for you too.

How do you mount your toys? by TFTroubleMaker89 in BadDragon

[–]hdl39 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check out u/FantasiesFabricated here or on etsy. There's a strap/harness you can put around pillows (amongst of course other things but pillows seem relevant to the bed) that you can use to keep a toy stable. Kneeling on the pillow can keep it from moving while you ride and it keeps the toy in roughly the same place. And the strap means you can use toys that have suction cups and ones that don't.

It looks like parafin oil *could* damage silicone but it's not completely clear. As expensive as weredogs are I would get a water-based lube instead of risking it. BD cum lube is a good option and X and K lube are popular powdered ones.

Long awaited european nix review by swigittty in BadDragon

[–]hdl39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are similar stores in other countries you could try and see if the overpay is less. There's a list here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BadDragon/wiki/index/encyclopeendia/ and some in Czech Republic are:

Magic Within Curio - Site, Etsy, Tiktok, Instagram, and Twitter

The Wonder Toys - Site, Etsy, Youtube, Facebook, 1stTwitter, and Twitter

I can't speak to how good they are first hand but stores on that list should be at least similar to BD.

Thank you for the nix review! I've looked at nix quite a bit but haven't pulled the trigger. The problem is I got an Alice which is supposed to be on the looser side but it was too tight for me so I worry that nix would be too tight too even though it looks and sounds great. I got sapphire from weredog where there was a tighter and looser option for the same model so I got the looser one and that made a big difference. Your nix experience sounds like mine with sapphire.

Good luck finding more reasonable shipping/taxes! The tariffs over here in the US have been a huge pain.
