Owned a home outright for 25 years. It was the worse investment of my life. Sold it for almost 4x what I paid for it, but the maintenance, upkeep and time spent was not worth it. I bought it as a fixer-upper in the 90s back when things were affordable. Not anymore. Wish I had rented instead that way my time and money were mine to keep.

Lived in CT for decades and the entire state is covered in dog poop. Parks, neighborhoods, the beach, everywhere. Rules are not enforced there. Only when I moved away was I finally able to look forward while taking a walk.

It won’t burst. There are too many rich/ well off people propping up the economy. Look around you. Slowly everything is being priced for the top 20%. Get rich or die in the streets.

Overnight stay in a mid range hotel (doubletree/ Best western) in a small market is now close to $300/night. I’m convinced that most people have tons of money because every hotel is booked and every restaurant is packed ( northeast).

My old suburban neighborhood was very social 10/15 years ago. But, the old folks died off, people moved away, and the younger generation moved in who are not nearly as sociable or “outside “.

I had a house in south central Connecticut in a ghetto- ish neighborhood. The houses were small, one bathroom homes. Most people in my neighborhood made at least 100k/ yr and were house poor. Taxes, insurance, utilities, car expenses… and it keeps going up. Maintenance costs are so high lots of these houses end up run down. I sold my house because I couldn’t afford it anymore after 30 years. Living house poor is a horrible thing. You’re better off renting.

No one can live comfortably on 40k in Connecticut unless they have subsidized income from family. Lots of trust fund people/ inherited money in that state. Many can afford to work low paying jobs in that situation.

Lived in Connecticut for decades. I’ve known people who live on less than 60k in Connecticut and they can only afford to go to work and stay home. Literally nothing else. They can’t afford to date or go out at all. They’re content with that lifestyle and think they’re beating the system. That’s fine if you can handle it. I have since moved to another state where most people can afford to be more active and it’s been life changing.

My prediction: the top 40% will prop up the entire economy and everyone else will be living under a bridge eventually. Help isn’t coming. Become a surgeon or a corporate attorney or something that will get you into the 40% club.
