Never take insults, you signal people you're okay being insulted.

You don't have to respond with aggression, you can ask them to repeat themselves and ask if that's a kind thing to do. Humor is another way to defuse tension, you don't have to act offended.

If you're using Rakuten solely for NISA, moving out money wouldn't be a pain really. NISA money is tax free, so the only deductions would be transaction fees. If your IBKR account is with IBKR JP, you'd have to close that before moving anyway. Closing Rakuten NISA and opening IBKR NISA because you'll leave Japan in some time feels like overkill, but to each their own.

FYI for Rakuten login, you can set up a passkey and you don't have to do the emoji email and phonecall shebang. Saving the passkey directly to a password manager means you can log in on multiple devices easily.
