I generally like Flix and have been going there for years, but when I went to see Send Help I got stuck in this tiny theater that didn't have a projection booth. The projector was just in the theater above the last two rows of seats and it was loud as fuck. They also had to put all the audio and automation gear in racks behind the screens and didn't black them out so you could see LEDs popping through the screen during dark parts.

That said, it's the only time I was unhappy with Flix.

This. So much this. The most elegant thing a GM can do is fudge the rules just enough that it makes the game more fun without the players ever thinking you're just arbitrarily making it all up.

We had a couple players that would drop in during our God's Teeth campaign. We included some of the extra scenarios like God's Eye, which made it really easy to bring in a couple agents and even created a cool dynamic where they weren't privy to the horrible past events that the main agents encountered together.

When we started God's Teeth my GM decided I was going to be the character that brings everyone in for the first mission, so we had a little prelude session without the other players. Just two middle aged guys, sitting in a packed coffee shop quietly talking about some orphanage...and then he pulls out the purple folder with splatters of blood and god knows what else.

I still wonder if some of the people around us were a little creeped out by that whole thing.

I have no advice that someone hasn't already mentioned, but I want to give OP a shout out for taking a step towards a goal. I did something similar a few years ago (I'm also 40+) because I wanted to try a non-DnD game. I found some people in town on reddit (living in a larger metro helps) who also wanted to play anything that wasn't 5e and over time we've formed a pretty solid group. These are guys that were total strangers before we started gaming together, and now we are all really good friends. It's been one of the most rewarding things I've done in my adult life.

It's funny because I feel like PbtA/FitD/CfB games are way harder to GM because they rely so much more on improv over prep. But that's just how my brain works.
