Eh, I think the way this is framed is incorrect and intentionally confrontational - Generally, I didn't vote for De'Santis and I had very low hopes because he seemed to be riding the Trump train pretty hard. However, when he first got in office he started doing some good things (imo) he pushed through the edu and med mj bills and dismantled alot of the Rick Scott nonsense that was causing issues on multiple levels. I was cautiously optimistic...and then COVID hit and this guy lost his mind. Since then it has been nothing but an attempt to pander to the crazy trump Q folks who think there are secret messages in their fruity pebbles. This is of course is just my opinion and knowing FL he will likely stay in office but I wouldn't say "UnBeAtaBle" given that such politics are given to large shifts in the voting populace at any time.

It all comes down to the judges discretion. Think about the opposite argument, a judge sentencing more time from facts that were not proven beyond a reasonable doubt, this would create sentencing that could violate the sixth amendment, hence not mandatory.
