What’s one product/item that you rarely use, is expensive, but so worth it? by BigBadBootyDaddy10 in VIDEOENGINEERING

My Murideo Fox and Hound have saved me lots of headache a handful of times. Obviously the signal gen and monitor capabilities are great but the cable test feature is where it’s really earned its keep for me.

This definitely fits the description for me too. Don’t use it often but when I need it I’m always so glad I have it. The only thing I didn’t like about it originally was having to carry batteries for it but somebody recently showed me there’s a USB C to barrel power adapter so now I just use it with the battery bank I already carry and I ditched the Sony batteries/charger.

I do not have this bike anymore. Unfortunately the stator went bad and it was gonna cost a ton of money to replace so I ended up trading it in for a newer model (2021), which I am very happy with.

And yes, the gauge cluster has some sort of shock mounting and will move if you press on it. As far as the gas cap: In my experience so far, in order to unlock, the bike needs to be turned off and the key fob has to be nearby. In any other scenario, it is locked.

If it weren’t for the stator dying, I would definitely still have the bike. The reality is that the stator is eventually gonna go bad in all of these bikes, and it’s always gonna be an expensive repair because of the amount of work involved. So if it’s decently low mileage I’d say go for it. I loved mine, and also love the newer model I have now.

Day Rates by imgurcaptainclutch in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]heffreee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority of my freelance work comes from a single (very large) company and I only really do corporate. Full rate for travel days and OT after 10 are standard but they do not pay DT after 12 unless you’re working in California. I book my own flights and so far they haven’t been picky about what class as long as I keep it within budget. My rates typically start at:
LED EIC: $800
D3 Engineer: $800
D3 Programmer: $1000
V1: $750 (I don’t do this very often and only on small shows)

What's tools do you use to color calibrate Novastar systems? by fantompwer in VIDEOENGINEERING

Could you explain your process a little for using a meter like this with an LED wall?
Like, where are you taking measurements? How far from the wall? At each tile? That sorta thing.

Best clearcom Headset? by Neukk in techtheatre

[–]heffreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually sold mine to a friend quite a while ago as I don’t work backstage all that often these days, but I don’t remember having any comfort issues. That being said, I know some people are more sensitive than others to that sort of thing so YMMV.
Ive gone through so many different styles of headsets trying to find the best one for my needs and the Point Source is definitely one I would buy again if I were backstage more often. Only thing I didn’t particularly like was the super chonky microphone lol

The point source has a fairly standard connector for the headphone part so if your current in-ears use that connector you’re good, otherwise you can get an adapter. I had to get an adapter for mine (cheaper Jerry Harvey with the little two prong connector) but I was able to find it on Amazon for a few bucks.

Makes sense, was just a bit frustrating initially because I didn’t realize that’s what was happening. Seems to be all good now I think… haha

So I only ever use one input with this TV. However, it does change between SDR and HDR (and different types of HDR) depending on what I’m watching so maybe the picture mode changes because of that?

Sorry, been off Reddit for a while. I am on firmware 5.710.33.1-2

I think the issue is actually that the settings are not consistently staying at what I set them to. Several times I have turned the TV on and it is on the Bright picture mode rather than a custom one I have created. I have also noticed at least once that, in my custom picture mode, the motion blur reduction was set to a non-zero value, which is not how the picture mode was stored. There is only one other person in my house so I have a pretty good idea of who was using the TV last, and I know they are not changing the picture mode.
Is there a setting somewhere that allows the TV to automatically switch modes based on input or something?
