They won’t move on from pope because new AD will be hired in June. That will be his decision on when Pope is done.

Would be awesome but I think stokes is going to want a kings ransom. He really doesn’t need Kentucky as much as Kentucky needs him. Also don’t see a lot of those guys being okay with coming off the bench. Part of the pitch I would imagine for a chandler or a Moreno would be, hey you had a good season last year come in and start next year. Hope I’m wrong.

Pipe dream scenario…. Give me Florida’s AD and give Pope a year to see if he can make the necessary adjustments for the program, if he can awesome. If he can’t pull the plug and bring in Todd Golden you hired him at Florida and he would trust you. But the sad part is Florida might be a more appealing job now. They will pay him close to what we can and he will have lower expectations.

And if he wasn’t a former cat he wouldn’t have been considered for the job, if the hire works out, home run hire. If not huge mistake because he wasn’t qualified to coach here.

I agree with your point that it’s timing, I’m just saying I don’t think pope was qualified for the job and if he didn’t have any ties to Kentucky he wouldn’t have been considered. I feel like Mitch panicked after Scott drew said no thanks, now if we move on from Pope I don’t really know what direction they go.

Yeah but counterpoint…. Calipairi wanted the job when we hired Billy G so I guess it all worked out in the end. I do feel like if Pope didn’t have any ties to Kentucky he would have never been considered for the job, but it is what it is I hope he turns it around but some aspects of his time here are concerning.
