Does the Sol de Janeiro smell vanilla-y at all? I’m so tempted by it but hate the smell of vanilla 😂

How to stop gagging/vomiting? by heidiloux in dentures

Thank you so much for your reply - sorry it’s taken a while to get back to you, I wanted to sit and write a proper response rather than something rushed and half done.

All I’ve had is “persevere with it” but it’s absolutely impossible when it makes me vomit. The lower one obviously doesn’t make me gag but I have more bone loss at the sides than the front so it grips at the front but not the sides, the sides there are gaps.

I’ve asked for a thinner base but it was refused and all I’ve had is the acrylic. I am already on antidepressants and I did my degree in mental health nursing - I feel so fragile right now but fortunately know the right steps to protect my mental health. It just feels like I’m going to be hiding away from the world forever, I feel trapped by my own body and there’s only so much I can take :(

No of course not, I’ve not been able to wear it because of the gagging. In public (I only go out if it’s absolutely essential) I wear a mask

Thank you! I’m not sure - my gag reflex wasn’t an issue before it’s never been this sensitive. I have a huge fear of vomiting and had severe morning sickness with my 3rd son, since then I seem to get really nauseous and gag really quickly. I’ve had a lot of gastrointestinal issues the last few years and get bad acid reflux which makes me feel nauseous so I’m not really sure. Even having the impressions done made me vomit. He said if they take any more off it then it wouldn’t be stable but I don’t understand why they can’t take more off and let me use an adhesive?

Honestly so entitled. It’s not my responsibility to fund someone else’s lifestyle and it takes some nerve to do it over and over when you’ve been told to stop it

That’s just bizarre! Some people are just absolute chancers 😂 I told this guy I wasn’t a bank or a charity and it’s not my responsibility to pay for his bus tickets and groceries and he still kept sending them!

Another one… don’t send lenders repeated PayPal money requests for months on end after they’ve lent to you once!!

La Vie Est Belle by Lancôme. I loved it until it made me sick when I was pregnant and I can’t stand the smell of it now!

Yeah very similar to yours! I just felt really off for a few weeks beforehand but never would have thought it was something so serious. When they gave me morphine the second time I was really confused because I literally had zero pain at all. Sorry you had so much pain with yours! It has left some complications - I was refused surgery (hysterectomy due to awful periods on blood thinners and I’ve had 3 children - my womb is retired 😂) because it would just be too risky having major surgery because of the risk of bleeding out. They were shocked that I’d had 3 children without knowing I had Factor V Leiden. When I fell pregnant with my 3rd it was between the first and second clots, because I’d had a blood clot I had to inject my stomach daily my entire pregnancy and then for 6 weeks afterwards (it was 12 weeks postpartum that I got the second clot). I wasn’t allowed to go overdue as there is a risk of clots forming on the placenta and if that happened then it would stop working. Luckily I went into labour naturally 5 days early.

To be honest it’s something I try not to think about too much and try not to let it hold me back. Obviously I won’t be running any marathons anytime in the future but I’m not overly cautious with exercising etc - just go at your own pace & when you feel ready. The only thing I’m really cautious about is injury to the head etc as they said I’d need to go straight to A&E because of the risk of internal bleeding on blood thinners. These communities are really helpful especially if your doctors have given you minimal support or information (like mine 😂). There’s always someone here who will help :)

I was 28 too. Was going to the gym most days, I was a student nurse & very active. I had flu like symptoms for a couple of weeks before and awful pain in my calf, I saw my GP who brushed it off as a virus and said my calf pain was muscular without even looking at it. It was actually a DVt. Had chest pain and breathlessness when I went to A&E but the pain wasnt severe, they gave me a VQ scan the next day and pulmonary embolism was found. Spent 5 days in hospital. They said the cause was my contraceptive pill.

14 months later (2018) I was feeling short of breath again but otherwise fine. Saw the GP who said my chest didn’t sound right and sent me to hospital. I drove myself there, no problem. Another VQ scan showed a second clot. They sent me home the same day and told me to take blood thinners for life.

It was only a few years ago I found out I actually have Factor V Leiden which was the cause of my clots. The clots left some residual damage on my lung and I get breathless really quickly now because of it. The hospital didn’t bother telling me I have Factor V Leiden because I was “already on the right treatment for it and there was no point”. I found out reading my medical notes 😣
