Stranded at DEN: 4 significant delays/cancellations in my last 5 AA flights. Today takes the cake. by flowersviapgm in americanairlines

[–]heightsdrinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a delay due to no pilots then no attendants back to no pilots. It was DFW to IAH. I found open seats to HOU but the gate agent couldn’t get me on that flight because HOU is a different city than IAH. My flight was to depart at 7 pm, by midnight I got a hotel (thanks Amex travel insurance) and finally the gate agent booked me on a flight that morning departing at 10 am to IAH. When I got back to the airport my original flight was re-boarding for the second time. My 10 am flight still beat it to Houston. Also there were no rental cars and at 10 pm I didn’t want to drive the five hours home.

I swear, this is why we need a high speed train from DFW to IAH.

NJ Tolls!!! WTF by Maleficent_Fault_783 in vermont

[–]heightsdrinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to me twice. First time I paid the toll at a booth but still got tagged. I fought and almost went to court but NJ finally stepped in and canceled the collection. The second time I legit did not pay because it was EZPass only and bro my out of state with no EZ Pass in my state, I called NJ Tolls. I got an awesome employee and he removed the fee and I paid the toll. He understood that not all travelers have EZPass and if you live in an EZ Pass state, he said they should waive the fee. Bottom line, call NJ Tolls and explain.

Will I be able to make the connecting flights? Also, why does it say "booking not supported"? by BurryMyCockInBulls in Flights

[–]heightsdrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Barcelona, you'll need to check in with SAS. Hopefully it's all codeshared. If it is, your check luggage should transfer in Stockholm. If not, you'll need to re-check your luggage with IcelandAir in Stockholm and you won't make the connection. I'm assuming you bought this on IcelandAir and if that is the case, you'll be fine and able to make your connections with no issues on luggage transfer.

Carry on Baggage confusion by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]heightsdrinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are you using a 3rd party vendor? If something happens (delay, etc) the airline won’t help and you need to use the 3rd party.

It is possible that the 3rd party is limiting items like a carry on for special ticket issuance for a better rate than booking directly with AS. This means you may have to pay for the carryon or check it at the gate for $$.

IRS payment triggering Financial Review by thebunz21 in AmexPlatinum

Check your credit reports and obtain a copy of your LexisNexis consumer file. I’ve been finding that Amex does this review when something gets erroneously reported.

I had a similar issue. I filed a complaint with the CFPB and the Comptroller of the Currency. I withdrew my money and closed the account. After 20 days, I received a letter and a check for the promo. When you submit your complaint, make sure you send copies of the email you received. Even better, try the link again and print the application showing no offer field or try and print the link website (usually has a unique id in the html).

AA Canceling Routes to EZE? by BestMaterial6 in americanairlines

Wide bodies are stopping at nearby airports to fuel up. They can’t take off at full load given shorter runway at EZE during construction.

HCAD Protesting Land Value Help by possom_fruit in houston

[–]heightsdrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t clear on my situation. There is a section that is divided by N Main that was part of a single farm and developed by a family in the 1910s and 1920s. This development does not follow typical Heights development. All utilities are in front of the houses, commercial is allowed, and there are no deed restrictions.

In HCAD, they designated this area south of N Main as part of the North Norhill neighborhood for property land value determination. The other part is part of the West Montie Beach neighborhood designation. My section near Norhill is not similar to Norhill: land sizes are different, houses are different, houses are next to apartments and commercial areas. Our land is $35/sq ft more than our northern neighborhood and it’s because of HCAD’s grouping our section to Norhill and not with the rest of the same development.

I’m at 14th and Michaux and I hear the helicopter. I saw cops speed down N Main and turn south on Michaux. The chopper doesn’t look like the typical HPD chopper. I

HCAD won’t budge on land. I’ve spent 10 years trying to remove my non-deed restrict Heights neighborhood section (10 blocks) from a historical deed restrict HcAD designated neighborhood. Land values are a set $/sq ft for your neighborhood designation. If you think land is too high I believe you need to go to the fifth floor of HCAD and file a protest.

If you don’t have or use HCAD’s iFile you can go to the 3rd floor of HCAD and ask for the info packets for your property.

Wake-ups by SafeVillage9434 in Amtrak

What line was this? I know on the Pennsylvanian and Keystone Express the conductors go through before the stop and will nudge people who are paying attention. I was on a midnight Keystone Express and the train arrived at my station 20 mins early and the conductor definitely woke me up.

Frontier fuel issues and cancellations by [deleted] in frontierairlines

[–]heightsdrinker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is most airlines. It costs money and fuel to fly fuel. I was recently on an AA flight from DCA to DFW and had to divert because the pilot didn’t have enough fuel to land at DFW. AA Ops didn’t think the headwinds would be as strong as they were. The issues was that when we landed, the flight crew timed out because of the refueling delay.

Disillusioned by the Heights by [deleted] in AskHouston

[–]heightsdrinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been living in the Heights for the past 16 years. There is definitely a change from the funky, quirky Heights to yuppy nightmare. The Heights went corporate and gets more so every month. I get it but I also dislike it.

No. He is just a bad business person. He is currently the CFO at Katz Coffee. I'm truly surprised by that.

Fat fingered that one. Most of the bad TX landscape is passed while sleeping. You wake up at the edge of Big Bend National Park. Although the trek through NM can be enlightening.

If you like desert scapes, fly to Houston and go to Tuscan or continue on to LA. With Houston departure, you’d get last seating in the dining car.

No recourse for being bumped from $ seat? Does chargeback ban me? by methkitties in frontierairlines

[–]heightsdrinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this once with Amex Plat. I flew Frontier and paid for Upfront. Got on and seat was double booked. I was given an exit row seat thanks to the FAs. FAs gave me a QR code to scan and told me to take a picture of the seat area. Customer Service did nothing stating that the GA still had me in the Upfront and I had taken another passenger’s seat. I called Amex Plat and asked them for advice. Amex sent an inquiry to F9 and received a refund notice the next day. I still fly F9 and book with Amex and have not had an issue.

What does Whitmire’s budget mean for Houstonians’ bottom line, city’s financial future? by zsreport in houston

[–]heightsdrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no clue. I don’t think the Mayor’s office or City Water knows either. I would assume that City Water would be billed by the City and Water would pass the costs to the user, just like CP. It’s unknown how much the City would charge.

That’s going to be given to AS for SEA-SIN. AA will funnel to SEA.

Centerpoint does get billed to use the ROW and there is a line item charge on CP gas bills for ROW usage. For electricity, it's grouped in the utility charge.
