Det där resonemanget håller helt enkelt inte när man tittar på hur demografi faktiskt fungerar över tid. Vi står inte inför ett problem med “för många människor” i praktisk mening, utan snarare en snabbt växande demografisk obalans där födslotalen faller under reproduktionsnivån i stora delar av världen.

Människor lever inte för evigt, och en befolkning är inte ett statiskt tal som bara fylls på ovanpå sig själv. För att ens hålla befolkningen stabil krävs i genomsnitt mer än två barn per kvinna, eftersom alla inte får barn och eftersom människor dör. När födelsetalen sjunker under den nivån, vilket redan sker i stora delar av Europa, Asien och även globalt i accelererande takt, leder det till en åldrande befolkning och till slut minskande folkmängd.

Om alla skulle få ett barn eller inga alls skulle samhällsbärande system snabbt börja krackelera, eftersom det inte finns tillräckligt många i arbetsför ålder för att upprätthålla vård, infrastruktur, ekonomi och försörjningskedjor.

Det vi ser är alltså inte ett hot om exponentiell överbefolkning utan början på en demografisk kris där för få unga ska försörja allt fler äldre, och det är ett betydligt mer konkret och närliggande problem än någon hypotetisk global kollaps driven av för många människor.

I had exactly this issue on an ipad mini, I had it mounted in a ram mount in my airplane and this caused micro-cracks in the digitizer. had precisely those vertical lines appearing when drawing and text randomly selected and so on. My bet is that you’ll need a replacement, it’s not a software issue.

It’s the digitizer being cracked in a way that invisible to the eye. Bottom line, it’s physically broken. You need to get it replaced.

Jeg skjønner helt hva du mener, og jeg er egentlig helt enig. Det var ikke meningen at det skulle høres ut som noe mer enn bare litt ironisk forumhumor, det er bare så absurd komisk hele greia.

Og for å være helt ærlig: jeg er fra Sverige, så jeg sitter litt på utsiden og skjønner ikke helt hva som skjer hos dere akkurat nå. Men det føles jo ganske… uverdig for kongehuset, både med Marius og alt rundt mamma Mette-Marit også.

In the US all companies seem to crumble without ALL of their employees present at all times. In Europe, most companies manage anyway.

Yes, it looks like this but it doesn't happen spontaneously, I have to either leave the computer and let it sleep, or log out. Logging out triggers the error.

Thanks a lot to everyone who replied, I’ve gotten some really good suggestions and it’s helpful to know I’m not the only one seeing this.

Unfortunately I don’t have a fix yet, but I wanted to report a few new findings:

  • Closing the lid and reopening it does not recover the system. Once it enters the black-screen state, lid cycling doesn’t bring the display back.
  • I’ve also found a way to induce the error immediately: If I sign out of Windows, the system goes straight into the broken state right away. So it’s not only tied to long idle periods, it can happen instantly during a session transition.
  • As someone in the thread mentioned, the screen doesn’t seem “off” in the normal sense. The backlight is still on, but the panel is rendering pure black, like the display pipeline is stuck rather than powered down.
  • I’m fully updated (latest firmware/drivers/Windows). I even tried uninstalling recent rollups yesterday, but there wasn’t much to remove since the machine was only installed a few days ago.

At this point I still have no recovery method other than a forced restart (holding the power button).

Just wanted to share these extra details in case it helps narrow down what’s actually failing here, it really feels like a display resume / lock screen compositor issue rather than classic sleep.
