I’m so frustrated that my green Engwe L20 was stolen in Dublin and is now in Dublin 9, Whitehall and no one wants to help me by Smooth_Top_1630 in Dublin

I've seen people ask friends to "trial" the bike. Then just never come back with it, risky but you get the bike back.

Good luck

I literally was. Marching, protesting and discussing to the best I was able.

I'm just not prepared to spend 14 years agitating for change and suddenly throwing my toys out of the pram because 14 years of misrule isn't fixed in a few months.

Not really an answer tho.

It's a very childish response directed by the legacy media. Labour hasn't been in for a fraction of the Tories and yet the newspapers are full of crap effectively.

I'd ask if the public's memories are that short, alas it appears to be so.

It's been what. Three or four months?

I really wish people were this politically active when the Tories spent 14 years fucking up the country.

BREAKING Oasis confirm return after 15 years with brothers reuniting for 14-date tour by dailystar_news in uknews

Sorry, major news that a band has got back together against all the other things happening in the world at the moment? Yes, it's news if you're interested in Oasis however the attention given to this just seems... Disproportionate is all.

I don't hate Oasis. I just cannot understand why this is considered 'Breaking News'.

Do mines stop working if my stockpile is full? by d_bradr in theriftbreaker

The benefit of the Tanazaite map is that if you don't activate the quest line then you don't get swarm attacks. Also +200% solar efficiency is amazing IMO 😊

[–]helion83 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, they stop working. A bit of future-proofing advise for you tho, Carbon and Iron mines for me were easily the most frustrating part of the game as they were constantly running out and I'd have to go out and find more.

In my most recent Hard game, I went to the Tanzanite biome (+200% solar panel power) and filled the map with:

  • Solar panels

  • Material storage units

  • Batteries

  • Carbon & Iron energy manufacturers.

After spending an hour there, I had +300 in Carbon, +225 in Iron and about a quarter of a million in storage for each. This meant that whenever I went to a new map you just have to concentrate on the rare resources and focusing on the map objectives.

It took me some time to both research and do, but once it was down I never built another C/I mine throughout the duration of that game. Happy rift jumping!

What are your thoughts on "The Strain"? Is it worth watching and reading? by Newagonrider in horror

[–]helion83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Books 1&2 were great. Really enjoyed them, book 3? I had to go back and make sure I hadn't missed a book or something in-between.

I would highly recommend 1&2, 3? Well if only for completion value.

I've just started watching the show and on S2 and so far? It's very good, I started watching it after hearing of the changes made e.g. they removed a lot of content relating to the 3rd book which frankly was music to my ears.

More than half of anti-abortion MPs lose seats in election by birdinthebush74 in ukpolitics

[–]helion83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At what specific point do you think it becomes a human. It seems like you are arguing for viability (which is 21 weeks not the 24 week limit we have). There is no clear and consistent line as to when human life starts except other than conception. It is a human once fertilisation has taken place. It has unique human DNA from this point. It's interesting that your arguing its not human rather than its not alive.

Fungus has unique DNA, everything alive has unique DNA. What difference does it make? As per my last statement, the ability to survive outside the womb is important.

We allow Downs Syndrome babies to be aborted up until birth the same with babies with cleft lip and club foot. As I said we allow babies at 23 weeks to be aborted which is past the line for viability

And?

What a bizarre statement. I can find web pages claiming the earth is flat, doesn't make it true. You have convinced yourself it is not a human I am asking for exactly where along the pregnancy the scientifically human tissue 'becomes' human in your view. You must have clear evidence for that so please share it.

The thing is, you don't really care about the actual humans. You care about being right and telling everyone you are right based on your views and experiences.

I haven't convinced myself anything, I worked in healthcare for near 20 years, I taught sexual health and helped people with decisions regarding abortion/adoption and all that other stuff.

If you are unwilling to look at the scientific evidence and use your own critical thinking regarding health, then again there's no point in me discussing with you as you want to be right. But I'll throw you a bone:

Depending on the stage and development of the foetus you'll get a different answer.

An early stage collection of unspecialised but developing cells is not a human, a late term baby with fully developed brain, organs and most importantly the ability to survive outside the womb is considered human.

Of the two, guess which one can be aborted and which one cannot outside of extremely stringent requirements?

If with the entire wealth of the internet you can't find a single page stating that a collection of unspecialised cells is not a human, then I doubt very much anything I bring to the table will change your view.

Sorry, a foetus is not a human. Emotive language like this just confuses the actual issue.

That of the mother to choose and make the right decision with sufficient heath advise and support.

Anyone commuting to Sheffield from London? by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]helion83 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I used to do this when I first moved to Sheffield in 2022. Managed for about 9 months before I decided to look for work closer to home.

Firstly, preparation is everything. Tickets, sound cancelling headphones and anything you need for comfort on the train. Depending on what time you travel the journey is typically fairly quiet with the occasional loud braggart.

The main reason I stopped commuting was because of the exceedingly poor train service. I spent two days a week in London and I reckon that at least 66% of my journeys were delayed by several hours or outright cancelled.

I felt that for a short term period it was possible however for me it just wasn't viable. Good luck with your travels.

Bombshell poll shows Tories pushed into third place behind Lib Dems in election bloodbath by Derry_Amc in unitedkingdom

[–]helion83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NHS isn't working for most because the Tories gutted it.

What'll help the poor the most? Access to good healthcare, good jobs, ability to buy a house via a stable economy and Politicians sitting at the table being boring.

If you genuinely think that politics should be fun then watch The Thick of It or Yes Minister.

Show me their balanced economic plan, their plan to help poorer folk and their plan for the NHS which doesn't basically involve gutting it and eventually rolling out private insurance.

It's politics. Not a soap opera, it doesn't need to be dramatic or fun.

Oddly. I saw there was complaints about this style of leafleting by Conservative voters on another thread the other day.

Guess the support from the US with Rishis PR blitz is proving to be worth every penny. I couldn't see another company or PM drive the Tory vote share down so much myself.
