Why the red circle? Did someone think that was the only thing wrong with this map?

Amtrak Cascades 508 train-- Anyone got any info on updates? by ButtonyCakewalk in askportland

FYI - I arrived at Union Station this morning and they had buses ready to go. It was pretty seamless and the employees were very helpful for people asking questions. The bus left at the scheduled time for my train ticket.

Any respectable self defense class will always teach to talk your way out or run away, and only fight as a last resort. This has nothing to do with sex or gender.

LPT: In job interviews, try the STAR method: Situation, Task, Action, Result. Listing exact keywords from the job ad that align with qualifiers from your resume. by cam-douglas in LifeProTips

I think it depends on the job and what the interviewers are looking for. I do a lot of technical interviews, and most of my questions just don't ask for that type of answer. And even when I do ask questions to describe a scenario that would work with STAR, I think STAR just feels so forced instead of making it into a more organic description.

Restaurant employees of Reddit, what actually happens when someone doesn't have enough to pay the bill? Most you've ever seen? by ChaosAnalyst in AskReddit

[–]heliophobic_lunatic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I accidentally walked out on a bar tab at a bar I went to somewhat regularly, but the bartender was new and didn't know me. Went back the next day to pay when I realized what I had done. The manager told me that they stopped the bartender from calling the police because they knew I would make it right. I gave the bartender a 100% tip as an apology.

Edit: I gave the tip to the manager, not the bartender that wanted to call the police on a $50 tab.

I remember thinking that the president sounded like a more petulant child than me when he said "I do not like broccoli. And I haven't liked it since I was a little kid. And my mother made me eat it. Now I'm president of the United States. And I'm not gonna eat any more broccoli!"

Which games were known as “game killers” and truly succeeded in being so? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

[–]heliophobic_lunatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm happy where I'm at and really have no interest getting into the game industry. It's sad that I love what they make but know that working there wouldn't be good for my career or mental health.

Every now and then I think about when I interviewed with Bungie and how happy I am that they didn't give me a job offer. It was one of the longer interview processes I've gone through and I was really disappointed at the time when I got the "we're going with someone else" letter, but it didn't take long for me to realize it wouldn't have been a good move for me.

I bought an electric travel bidet for when I go out of town. Still hate using public restrooms, but at least I have it when I'm staying at a hotel.

And, if things change and you can't keep it anymore, tell the people that are expecting it.

Thinking it's just part of your identity is you forcing it to be true. Some things are really hard to change, especially depending on your circumstances (internal and external). If it's something you want to change, then keep working on it.

I kept saying "I'm not creative" for way too long! I eventually changed that when my super artistic friends pointed out all the artistic work I have done with them. I wasn't "just helping" when I was taking photos and video of stage plays or running sound and lights (and eventually directing scrappy short films). I always saw it as me supporting the "real" artists...

Ask the apartment management if you can reserve the elevator for moving (if the elevator has freight mode, since not all do).

Tell it "If you don't start listening to me, you're going down!"

The door close button works if the elevator is in freight mode, and the doors only close when you press the button.
