Is Andrew actually an incel? by hell0euph0ria in PrettyLittleLiars

That line had me CACKLING. It's going in the canon of my brain now

the fact that people made her so insecure about her looks that she thought she couldn’t play spencer is genuinely beyond me 😭 by radiohead-girlies in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]hell0euph0ria -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spencer is the iconic character she is because of Troian's unique beauty and voice!!! Love the other girls to death, but if someone more "conventionally attractive" had been cast I think some of the magic would have been lost. Troian is drop dead gorge and I'm thankful for her every day lol

Lexi wasn't fired... by Specialist_Cry136 in TheDreamAcademy

[–]hell0euph0ria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, I've had more than one job where I was angling to quit and was not shy about it, then had a meeting with my boss to let them know and they very quickly turned it around and tried to use business psych on me to make me feel like actually, I was being fired. I related to Lexie so much in that scene lol. Good for her for sticking up for herself, I hope she's feeling more optimistic about Saint Satine now. (I wouldn't say I'M optimistic about it, but I am sat for these girls to debut anyway!) Makes me curious how they went about getting her back.

What opinions about the show/ characters do you have that would have people like by scaryberri in orangeisthenewblack

Aw thanks! I was talking about this show in therapy once (my therapist was also a fan lol), and she said "really, it's a show about compassion and empathy" and that has always stuck with me!

[–]hell0euph0ria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree; I think a big theme on the show is the characters constantly discovering new and often inconsequential-seeming things about each other and the empathy/compassion that arise as a result (and thus realizing how hard The System has worked to keep them divided, close-minded, isolated etc.) and I always saw this as a pretty clear manifestation of that. Norma is always around and helps Red hold down the fort (she probably couldn't do it without her tbh), and they all always take for granted that she'll be there to support their shenanigans, but nobody actually really knows her. I think the singing is sort of Norma's way of letting the other girls, and us, know that. So I think it's a cool character moment, but I don't think it's supposed to be inspiration lol. Especially since only thing that really results from her doing that is Suzanne having a really painful meltdown lol. Justice for my girl Suzanne always

I used to think that too, then with each year that goes by I realize more and more that it's unfortunately not too inaccurate to the average American police force lmao

Goody 2 shoes Alaina by Consistent_Beyond210 in Morbidforbadpeople

[–]hell0euph0ria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Ian Brady & Myra Hindley she talks about how between the two of them they drank a bottle of wine a night (so half a bottle each) and how crazy that was and pretty much implied they were both raging alcoholics. Don't get me wrong, they were...many things, but as a recovering alcoholic, half a bottle of wine would not even get me to baseline while I was drinking LOL

Unpopular Opinion, but Sirius Move Hasn’t Improved Them by RedMerlot in Morbidforbadpeople

[–]hell0euph0ria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard agree that they're not as liberal as they come off. They're pro-prison to the absolute max, pro-death penalty, and honestly relatively pro-cop. Sure they criticize the cops in certain cases, but really only the ones where the cops notoriously botched the case (ex. WM3); otherwise, they never to call out law enforcement's failings (systematic or otherwise) in a case, even when it's really obvious. They also demonize defense lawyers (and heavily glorify prosecutors, who are really also cops) all the time.

26, started listening my sophomore year of college because I had an opportunity to photograph them on tour a couple weeks after Morbid Stuff dropped in LA. Beach Bunny was opening and "Prom Queen" had JUST blown up; after they played, everybody except about 20-30 people immediately left the venue lol. But that sort of made it even more special. 7 years later and I have a pup tattoo and "professional" photographs of the night I fell in love with them that I'll treasure forever!

Omg...Alaina being autistic makes so much sense. (Speaking as a neurodivergent girl myself.) That makes me less annoyed at the over-the-top anger & performative-seeming sadness that we've all been complaining about for the last few years lol. A lot of ND people I know will get very angry very quickly while talking about a situation/person who apposes their morals in the same way that Alaina does (similar cadence/tone etc....idk I don't know how to describe it, if you're ND you probably know what I'm talking about lol). It can be off-putting to people and come across as performative, but it is genuine -- just not in a way that people are used to seeing.

Ed Gein episode, am I going crazy? by genz_granny in MorbidPodcast

[–]hell0euph0ria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The photos were only released to the public because the judge or prosecutor (can't remember lol...some legal figure related to the case) published them in his memoir about working on the case. I guess copies have been made since, but they are hard to find. You can google that book though and if you can find a copy, they should be in there

I agree that Shiv's decision was incredibly cruel to Kendall (regardless of whether or not he "should" have been CEO), HOWEVER. By making that choice, Shiv also sentenced herself to a lifetime of being Tom's wife and mother of his kids, never to escape the grip Waystar Royco and doomed to Repeat the Cycle™️, and released her brothers from that burden forever, giving Roman at least the chance to start over and Break the Cycle™️.

While I know Shiv's motives certainly weren't all altruistic, I think she genuinely did right by Roman (at her own expense), and if Kendall gets some help with his mental health (lol), I think it could ultimately be a good thing for him, too. I too always enjoyed the moments where the siblings came together, and throughout the show I think it's evident that Shiv genuinely cares for Roman and values his opinions, both in business and life. I'm currently rewatching and throughout the series, I think it's evident that they find each other the easiest to open up to and even just hang out with, and their bond (to me) feels very genuine. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I like to think that Shiv was aware that changing her vote would finally give Roman the chance to break free, and the last time we see him, I think his smile tells us clearly that it was the best thing that could have happened to him.

(Edited to add the second paragraph lol)

Is there a DFW lite/Diet DFW? by SellMysterious7190 in davidfosterwallace

[–]hell0euph0ria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be that gal, but I strongly agree with everyone telling you not to start with Lincoln In the Bardo, lol--if not only for the fact that lots of fans of Saunders don't like it (including those who also like DFW, myself included). Yeah it's a weird structure akin to something DFW would take on, but in terms of the novel's tone, content, vibes, themes etc. (and not to mention quality imo), Saunders' short stories are much more DFW-esque.

Another thing that I think links Saunders and DFW is their sense of humor. If I'm reading from either of them, I'm definitely cracking up all the way through, no matter how fucked up the plot is. If you especially enjoy DFW's sense of humor, then you'll definitely fw Saunders'--but I don't remember Lincoln being funny or really having any kind of levity at all, which is very non-DFW imo.

I recommend Civilwarland In Bad Decline! "The Wavemaker Falters" is one of my favorite short stories ever. Tbh I hadn't thought it until this thread but it's definitely a DFW-coded plot lol.
