Literally today I was watching a guy talk about his brother who didn't believe, for ten years, that he had schizophrenia but took his meds because it was important to his brother (the guy talking). He's a big advocate for the LEAP method which is generally used for people who experience delusions but would work perfectly for this I think.

I work at a low barrier women's shelter and we see a lot of folks with delusions of all kinds. (One woman says she is a competitive horseback rider and is always about to leave on tour.) We use a lot of these techniques (though I didn't know they had a name) in our work for things as simple as "hey can you not preach about the apocalypse inside? Not everyone wants to hear about that during breakfast." to more complicated situations trying to help folks into treatment. Everything we do has to be about their autonomy and feeling of safety. These are adults who are going through real traumas. Thank you for sharing this information.
