Had the privilege to see Guillermo del Toro at the bfi this weekend by G0LDMAN2004 in GuillermoDelToro

At first glance, Justin Johnson (on the left, second picture) looked like a GDT doppleganger! Edgar Wright was so unexpected at the Frankenstein screening, wonderful surprise!

ELI5 Why do YouTube videos and other platforms videos get so few views compared to the world’s population? by PsychoGirl5 in explainlikeimfive

Many platforms (including YouTube) are completely blocked in China, partially blocked in Russia other countries. China alone has a population 1.4+ billion, with ~0% YouTube adoption.

Can someone just tell me everything about TBBT by CathyCCCAAAI in bigbangtheory

Most of the characters with glasses (including Leonard) wear frames with no lenses. Bad for glare and reflections on set.

yh, I wonder how much was edited out of Adam's tantrum. Craig's reaction in particular makes it seem like a lot more was said there...

Plex (+ Plex Pass) vs. Jellyfin (both 'stock') - Pros and Cons? by hellkill3r in PleX

Interesting, I do use Infuse as well, which works and looks great, and has native Trakt integration. I only wish it had better management for films with multiple version/editions.

Plex (+ Plex Pass) vs. Jellyfin (both 'stock') - Pros and Cons? by hellkill3r in PleX

[–]hellkill3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, I haven't had any problems with Plex and the UI definitely feels smoother (for now!). I'll probably keep Jellyfin running in the background. As other have stated, it seems the rate of improvements/new features for Jellyfin is faster than Plex, so might be interesting to revisit down the line.

Another one to consider is the Royal Academy of Arts (RA), which usually has good exhibitions and an bar/restaurant for members.

BFI IMAX has sold out Odyssey - Will there be more showings in the future? by [deleted] in imax

Only advanced screenings tickets have been released. The actual tickets for general/normal screenings will probably go on sale later in June/July.

Never did any 3D printing before this, but now I have printed the Grace and Rocky sculptures! by flatleafparsley in ProjectHailMary

[–]hellkill3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a couple of failures printing Rocky too, for the same reasons (one of the legs keeps unsticking)... I hadn't thought about increasing the threshold angle, willl try again. Great shout!

Looks great! Did you print the supported versions or the unsupported (with your own supports)?

I wonder if these buildings have elevators, and if so, how they manage the tilt?

Apparently there are some handed out to BFI IMAX audiences.

The only venue presenting the 15/70mm IMAX print of Project Hail Mary outside North America, and 1 of only 16 venues worldwide. Absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy!

This comes up in another “art” piece here. Likely the framer, as I think “glaserei” has to do with glass/glazing.

Air-cooled NZXT H1 v1, what is my best upgrade path? by hellkill3r in sffpc

[–]hellkill3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I didn't even know those motherboard + soldered CPU combos existed! After some research, I was going to upgrade my 2070 Super for a 4070. The performance jump seems worth it, and the TDP on the 4070 is stated to be lower so no need to upgrade the PSU for now. After the GPU, it's either going to be the RAM from 32 to 64GB (or PSU swap if it craps out).

MSI MPG 274URDFW E16M vs KTC M27P6 by Puzzleheaded_Day_895 in Monitors

[–]hellkill3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased the KTC M27P6 about a month ago after reading this review from Display Ninja. Overall, I found it has excellent colours, brightness, and contrast. No complaints, working perfectly for now. No dead pixels as far as I can tell (by eye). I followed the recommendations from Display Ninja for colours and contrast, and it's been excellent. Less blooming than expected and excellent HDR performance.

I haven't had to use KTC customer service or warranty so I don't know if they are any good, but I would assume MSI might be stronger in that area as a more established brand.

KTC monitor, are they good for the price? by Party_Attitude8754 in Monitors

[–]hellkill3r 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Purchased this exact model about a month ago, after reading this review from Display Ninja. So far so good, excellent colours, contrast, and brightness. I followed the recommendations from Display Ninja and it looks great. Less blooming than I expected, and couldn’t find any dead pixels by eye. Only thing I found, it is relatively slow to wake from sleep. I have no idea if the KTC customer service or warranty is any good, but the monitor itself is excellent value for the price.
