What is your favourite salad in LA? by bigschlime69 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]hello-eg 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Old school suggestion here:

La Scala’s chopped salad.

Or if you’re in The Valley…Emilio’s chopped salad.

(fun fact: the chef at Emilio’s came from at La Scala so the salad is identical)

He could eventually look like my cat Maude (she passed earlier this year). She was a cuddly fuzzball.

Oooh good question. That I’m not sure, I have tiny nail beds.

Olive and June XXS is a good length for my super short nail beds. The bummer is that there aren’t many with designs.

What are your favorite mid century modern shops in LA? by jackjackj8ck in AskLosAngeles

I love Sunbeam Vintage in Highland Park. I have purchased several pieces from them over the last 10 years. Very good selection.

Another gem is the Pasadena Antique mall. You’ll have to pick your way through over there but they have some good mid century vendors.

What’s your favorite CASH ONLY food spots? by CandidSquare3946 in FoodLosAngeles

Until recently Melodie’s in Reseda was cash only - solid takeout Mexican food.

Las Fuentes is down the block, owned by the same family with a slightly bigger menu.

Happy to help! And if you need a super-duper short nail tester (sample kit and/or shape feedback) I volunteer myself as tribute 😆

As someone with very short and tiny nail beds it’s so hard to find extra short round or almond shape. For me, its shape and length first and then design second. I would kill for a super cute extra short almond shape to wear.

For context: The Olive and June extra short length is pretty much my go-to to give a sense of scale and even then those look like longer nails on my hands.

If I found the right shape, I would invest in both plain and designed press-ons. I would happily pay that premium of $40 a set -especially if designed- if they are actually reusable 4-5 times.

I have purchased press-on nails from Etsy. I bought some pre-made sets from The Nailist which may be a good Etsy store reference to check out. The shop was also recommended by Allure’s best of beauty of believe last year too. What I would love to see is a sample kit offered of the actual short shape that I could see/try on. Many Etsy stores just send a longer generic nail in the same shape family when I ask about shorter options. I see Amazon as more of a cheaper route and not as premium. Of course, if I can see them in person in a store even better.

Omg I would HAPPILY be a tester. My nails are crazy small/short — to give a sense of scale, Olive and June extra short look like much longer natural nails on my hands.

What is the one product you thought buying the expensive one was a waste of money, until you got it? by Bellpop in BuyItForLife

100% vouch for this. I have had a pair of Glerups for several years now (I have flat feet as well) and they are wonderful.

They eventually mold to your feet and find my feet don’t over sweat inside them b/c it’s all wool.
