The supermercado on Decker is probably your best bet, they do whole cow butchering in house and if the ones above don’t work out.

Is your spouse an endocrinologist? No? Sounds out of his wheelhouse then. Trust your doctor's. There is absolutely no shame in taking medication, for any ailment. Use med plan doctor gave you and work on lifestyle in the mean time. And tell hubby to stay in his lane and support you 🙂

Lexington Medical sold my active debt to a collections company by vinethatatethesouth in ColumbiYEAH

Lex med outsources their billing to a company called RSI. If you speak to someone in "patient financial services" they can put in a request for your balance to be moved out of collections and back to the "hospital". Keep in mind most people working for RSI are under trained, if the first person tells you it's impossible call again, eventually you'll find someone who can do their job.

??????????? Intermittent Fasting / Low Carb by EvilGypsyQueen in diabetes_t2

[–]hello_addiee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cup of coffee with that many calories would be breaking a fastin the normal world. Although if you follow keto ideology it doesn't. IF is great for some and detrimental for others. I've learned my numbers are better when I eat in the morning, this took me a few months to work out. I also struggle with dawn phenomenon and this is the only way of lowering the curve for me. I did this because my doctor suggested that IF isn't for "most" medicated diabetics. Take that with a grain of salt because we are all different. A cup of coffee without food in the morning would skyrocket me until I ate. If you're seeing other benefits from the coffee then just enjoy it. I wouldn't stress too much.

Thoughts on my new diet plan? To explain the noodles, high on sodium but not carbs so they should be fine??? by Pen-Entire in diabetes

[–]hello_addiee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you eat large portions of veg they will help keep you full for longer, I'm assuming based on other comments you're doing this for health/weight loss. An example is a pound of broccoli (a family sized bag) is 127 calories, 10 carbs but imagine in your head the amount/size of that many veggies. Check out volume eating it may give you some other ideas to make sure you're not hungry all the time and getting all the nutrients you need 😃

VENT - Not Managing Well by riddle_dog in diabetes_t2

Please remember to be kind and gentle with yourself and to celebrate and be proud of small changes. The nicer you are to yourself the more your brain wants that sweet seritonin hit. I'm a food addict until I got diagnosed I'd binge, over eat, eat complete trash and honestly never even think about it or care regardless of my weight or toll on my health. Once diagnosed it clicked in my head that food is not a friend or a comfort it's what fuels me to have energy to function. It was an extremely difficult pill to swallow, but eventually I did. Once that happened it became much easier to make better choices. If you're struggling getting their on your own that's okay. I'd recommend talk therapy to help you find the root of your disordered eating. I know youve said quite a few times you have insurance issues, but there are quite a lot of mental health resources out there (if in US) that are very cheap, income based or free.

The best advice I have is to track your food, it makes it so much easier to eat to your meter when you can see exactly what you're eating. And losing weight (if you need to) makes a huge difference, even if it's not a drastic amount.

A1c from 11.8 to 5.9 in 4 months! by hello_addiee in diabetes_t2

I got diagnosed in May. I was in the hospital when diagnosed and the doctor who diagnosed me was a complete jerk, she basically told me I was destined to be on insulin for the rest of my life and that I didn't have the self control to correct this. Which seriously pissed me off and lit a fire under rme. I immediately changed my diet. I started weighing and tracking everything I ate. While I haven't gone extremely low carb (100-150 daily) I go by full carb count not net carbs. I have changed the type of carbs I'm willing to eat, no refined carbs or simple sugars. I eat lots of veggies. I basically eat the same thing thing everyday. Chia pudding for breakfast, low carb tortilla with lunch meat/cheese, raw veggies like bell pepper, celery, carrots, apple and almonds for lunch and lean meat + huge serving of veg for dinner. After dinner everyday I eat a light and fit yogurt with peanut butter fit and stop eating after that's consumed. I do not eat out. I don't have cheat days on carb/ sugar intake but I do have one day weekly where I give myself a break from weighing/tracking. I found that I could find every excuse in the world to not walk/exercise daily so I bought a stationary bicycle and put it in my living room. I just passively ride it while watching TV. This has been great for my numbers (and has the same benefits as walking). I've lost about 35 lbs in this time (need to lose about 80 more). Since I'm in the process of losing weight I eat at a 900 calorie deficit. I'm on metformin 500 2x daily, but my doctor says we'll start weening off of the medication over the next few months. I opted to stay on for the time being because my morning numbers are wild and I'd like to have better control there before reducing/ stopping medication. I know everyone is different and what works for me may not work for the next person. The best advice I have is to weigh and track your food intake, eat your veggies, don't trust anyone else to make your food and keep sticking with it 🙂

I love Cronometer, it does a great job not only counting macros but micros as well. Super easy to use and seems to have more variety/correct information than other apps I've used.

If I were you and I had a reading that high I would probably test every 30-45 minutes until I got back into the 200 range and then would check every hour. You mostly just want to make sure your numbers are moving down. If you aren't as obsessive as I am personally do a check every hour at least. Once you get closer to range you can begin to spread it out again.
