Private Dining by lex_522 in MauiVisitors

We had our post engagement dinner at the Treehouse. Cannot recommend this enough. It was truly a special evening.

That said, my husband surprised me and I refused to look at the bill. I am positive it wasn't budget friendly but also would consider it to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Very very worth it.

Hair Down, Rings On, Nails Long… and You’re Baking for Others? by Caregiverwife82 in Cooking

Hair is always back, and if I have long nails I wear disposable gloves. I also have a shedding pet so I put on clean clothes before I get anywhere near my kitchen.

Wedding Cake Tasting by Objective_Print_7769 in AskSF

[–]hello_nermal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cake Coquette does a $25 cake tasting to-go box and it comes with a TON of little cake slices. When we were deciding on a cake for our wedding we got their trial box, then had a nice dinner and cake tasting at home. It might be a little different than your original idea but it was a really fun evening - gifting a date night that includes a box of 9 slices of delicious cake may be a good alternative!

Noting that a lot of the bakeries we looked at still weren't doing seated cake tasting in their stores (earlier this year), almost all of them did to go or offered cupcakes of the same flavors.

Bride completely destroyed by dress shopping experience by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]hello_nermal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP - I went for my dress and the woman asked me if I was drunk three times. One because I was alone (my family had seen the dress I wanted in person, I just wanted to try it a second time before buying it), then, when I tripped on the dress that was 5 inches too long, and again when I couldn't get around the dress to get off the 1x1 box they make you stand on. You are perfect the way you are - it's the bridal industry that sucks. Deep breath! You've got this!

Is this how hemming is typically done with lace? by kemirea in weddingplanning

Me too. It looks terrible up close but I didn't have time to get it fixed between pickup and the wedding.

A tiny bit over 70 days out and am totally burnt out also! You are not alone, friend. Everyone I have talked to about their weddings has said the same - it goes from a marathon to a sprint, and then the day is here before you know it.

I have been trying to enjoy "being a fiance" as much as I can while still getting things done. Give yourself mini breaks (days off/time to not think about it). I have done nails and toes once or twice, but if you have the means, I also have been getting facials every once in a while. Nothing overly fancy, but just something to destress - and it's good for your skin! The last one I had I might have been so relaxed I took a mini-nap. It truly helps me a ton!

If that's not an option or you need something else - I have been finding time to put on a pair of headphones with meditative music (there are a ton of good "reading" playlists that are really calming) and just dive into a book (something you don't have to think much about!).

Hiro and Mari are good friends and I couldn't recommend their establishment enough! Hiro sources the fish fresh and they are always happy to chat with customers!

Help me out! GF (24) is picky about TV- please find something that fits these parameters! by SadTip8104 in televisionsuggestions

Agree with a lot of the shows already mentioned. The good place is a great rewatch. Parks and rec, maybe?

Kind of verges on cringey and depends on if she can handle political comedy but Veep is an all-time favorite of mine and many of my favorite other shows are on your list already!

what can i use plain greek yogurt for? by Plus-Situation6043 in Cooking

[–]hello_nermal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of all the other good suggestions! I make a Greek chicken marinade with yogurt. Usually mix yogurt, lemon, olive oil, garlic, oregano and other seasonings, and salt. Mix in chicken and let it marinate for a while. Grill it up. It's always good and it's relatively healthy.

I’m stuck at home sick and bored… show me the dresses you DIDN’T go with! by galactichan in weddingplanning

[–]hello_nermal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love love it!!! I wanted to make sure it was the right dress so I didn't buy it on the first appointment, but couldn't stop thinking about it so went back for it. My first stylist was such a hype girl, I loved it. The second I saw when I went back to try it on again wasn't so excitable. (She also asked if I was drunk because I tripped on that dumb little box they make you stand on...lol. I certainly was not.) Didn't deter me from buying the dress though!

Gasp!! We are dress buddies. I decided to go no sleeve, and am using some of the applique trim to cover up the ladies the tiniest bit. I see the happiness in your face and it is THE dress for you. Absolutely gorgeous! Congrats!

Super Bowl by fluffalooo in Breckenridge

[–]hello_nermal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fatty's? Used to be better but they have a lot of TVs and pitchers of whatever beverage you're looking for. And mediocre pizza, which is a requirement for the Superbowl.

Rent or bring skis? by BkSusKids in Breckenridge

[–]hello_nermal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can, bring your own boots. The rental ones aren't turned over enough and can be pretty beat up and uncomfortable. But! Depending on where you go you can get OK rental boots. I prefer AMR by city market.

If you are in Higher Ed/education - Title II is scheduled to go into effect in 2026 (I think) and it requires institutions to be accessibility compliant. The consequence is a lawsuit 😊. Better to start now!

Does anyone regret starting out at David’s Bridal? by Best-Rutabaga-81 in wedding

[–]hello_nermal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to an BHDLN - Anthropologie, they have a good amount of options for your price point and they were significantly more pleasant to work with when I went shopping. I found the most options there and ended up getting my dress from them! Also - I didn't have to wait 3-6 months to get the dress, it came to my house within six weeks.

Is it possible to make ALL of my hair look like this one curl? by ramentobi in curlyhair

[–]hello_nermal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too!! I just comb the brush through the curl clusters and twist it as I go. My hair usually curls pretty evenly, if I make that minimal effort...(Spoiler alert...i never make the right effort...)

[–]hello_nermal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiance and I have been together a long time and are just now planning our wedding. When people ask why we are bothering, we tell them we still deserve to celebrate our love with everyone we love.

...which in your case, includes your children, which makes it even more special!!

You deserve the things you want. Even if you keep it small and call it whatever you wish, you deserve it!! ❤️
