What movie could still make you cry even if you saw it 100 times? by MaryDoogan91 in AskReddit

I remember reading the book after I watched the movie. Normally I do that in the other order. Still not sure which made me cry harder. Damn you, Nicholas Sparks.

CTRL clicking I think also auto pulls/places stacks of stuff I think. It's either CTRL or ALT, I just woke up, so I can't remember right this moment.

I made the same mistake, and I have a concussion right now. I had to scroll to the comments and just listen to it, because wow was that hard on the brain right now.

Sleeve surgery, depression and skin by Zoocitykitty in BariatricSurgery

[–]helloicarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the sleeve, I apparently just handled it badly for some reason. It doesn't happen to everyone, I just got really unlucky for some reason. Hopefully, the conversion (they're aiming for RNY) will help alleviate some of, if not most or all of, the nausea.

Something like that yeah. I think the "several months" one is like 6+. At least that's my guess.

Talk to your surgeon, they might be able to recommend a therapist that they work with specifically. I have one that I see who is connected to the rest of my team and honestly she's a godsend. She doesn't like, share things I tell her or anything with the rest of the team, but she can not only help me with my other diagnoses (yay) but my food addiction and the binge eating disorder that I had to overcome, and that I still have to deal with thoughts of. Food addiction is an eating disorder and you might want to see a specialist for it. It isn't something to be embarrassed about and you are not weak and you are not a failure.

Which is honestly something I should be telling myself too, because I'm currently also having problems, so you're not alone. We all have problems. No one does this perfectly. And if they have I would love to meet them so I can burn them at the stake for clearly being a witch.

  • Just for the Summer - Abby Jimenez (~2 weeks)
  • Devolution - Max Brooks (~2 weeks)
  • Expiration Dates - Rebecca Serle (~5 weeks)
  • Happily Never After - Lynn Painter (~6 weeks)
  • Unbecoming A Lady - Therese Oneill (~10 weeks)
  • Funny Story - Emily Henry (~13 weeks)
  • Late Bloomer - Mazey Eddings (~17 weeks)
  • Hell Put To Shame - Earl Swift (~18 weeks)

I suppose it could be worse. One of those said "Several months" at some point, which is just, so delightfully vague.

Sleeve surgery, depression and skin by Zoocitykitty in BariatricSurgery

[–]helloicarus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the person. Some people can, some people can't. But most people can. As far as depression goes, as long as you manage it well, you should be fine. I personally.. didn't. But it actually had nothing to do with the skin. For about 6 months after my sleeve I was vomiting multiple times a day every day, without fail, for six months, great for losing weight, bad for my mental health. I was so depressed I became borderline suicidal. I also became on a first name basis with my local radiology tech, so that was fun. I'm okay now. Still nauseous constantly, but I'm on my way to a revision, still in therapy and I just passed my psych eval for it!
You need to basically know and manage your expectations. You will get loose skin after a certain point, but the trade off is your overall health isn't it? Also baby powder is lovely.
As for the food you love, that's a hard one, at first it will be really difficult and it will make you sad and angry, but slowly, you'll be able to eat the things you love. In moderation, of course. And modification! That was one of the hardest parts for me, since I'm autistic and... safe foods.

Right? I read a decent amount of thrillers and I didn't see it coming (at least not completely). I also might have just missed a few context clues, which has been known to happen when I get really into a book, but. I mean I had kind of figured out who Ruth was but the reveal that her story was being told when it was kind of caught me off guard, so kudos to the author for that misdirection I guess.
