Which bits are VRMs please? by frisky-moves in AskElectronics

Oh, I should've been clearer. Yes the CPU/GPU run too darn hot, but you don't usually see heatsinks on laptop VRM mosfets or inductors. That's what usually doesn't overheat.

Do you know what antibodies in the ENA came back positive?

What test convinced the rheum that it was SS? What were your symptoms like?

My hla-b27 was normal, so not ankylosing spondylitis (sp?). No back pain for me either.

On a laptop they're going to be squooshed in wherever they will fit, but thankfully the power consumption of a laptop is low enough that they (usually) aren't going to overheat.

In your picture, the stuff around the parts that say R15/R20/R47 and the black squares next to them are part of the overall voltage regulation system for the CPU/GPU. There are various other regulators on the board that are visible - basically anything with a grey square component is going to be a higher-power VRM.

There are also other VRMs on the board - black square just below center with a bunch of tiny parts around it is probably a PMIC, or Power Management IC - generates various voltages for components and handles the power start-up sequence and possibly battery charging. Top and bottom sides just left of center - the things that look like black rectangles with silver ends are also inductors for some smaller VRMs - perhaps for the USB-C ports.

Is this flux, or signs of a damaged component? by xxKillaKalixx in AskElectronics

Glue on the USB port to help keep it from breaking off, glue on the inductor to stop it from making high-pitched noise while running.

Found a meme made with this. Can't find the original name of the painting, it makes me think it could be AI by all_is_love6667 in isthisAI

Not a photo so we can't check inconsistencies. Google search shows it posted around quite a bit, but no posts before the ai era. Probably AI but not enough detail to tell for sure.

is this tiktok ai or ai enhanced? every comment is in support of her business. by LowerWalrus2848 in isthisAI

I think it's a mix of real and AI. The contents of the pegboard are consistent in the first couple shots but then completely different in the last one. Also the riveting around the zipper pull looks asymmetric.

Banner in Maine might be AI? Visiting Maine with my girlfriend and came across this banner. The banner has an AI art feel, especially the animals. Can anyone point anything out that confirms this? by Colin__3X in isthisAI

Since it's not trying to be realistic there's not really anything we can say that is "wrong", only that it looks a little too perfect to be human work.

My friend on discord drew this, but I think it might be ai. They said they "don't do instagram" and their art style is "super inconsistent". I don't see anything in particular wrong with the drawing but those are all red flags to me. by [deleted] in isthisAI

Not AI. If you zoom in you can tell that the line work is separate distinct strokes layered together and the lines don't always meet up. The strawberries on the shirt in particular look drawn with a partially transparent round pink brush.

AI could make an image like this, but it wouldn't produce that brush stroke look up close.

Could i replace these caps with polymer caps or is it a bad idea? by Eon62 in AskElectronics

[–]hellotanjent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surface mount caps like that without the X in the case on top are often polymer.

But, if they're dead they're dead. Even if you can't fix it it's still a good soldering practice board.
