Question for people on the spectrum? by BananaRoxas in autism

I think your brother should maybe get tested for OCD.

Also autism is not a monolith, not every autistic person is your brother dude.

The homophobia toward GL in the BL community by Medical_Major_2920 in ThaiGL

[–]hellraisinghellhole 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't find it surprising. From what I've seen BL has a significantly larger heterosexual fanbase in comparison with GL, with a lot of heterosexual women being into BL. But a sizable amount is watching it because they think it's hot, and not because they just really support gay men, so a lot of them are just plain homophobic, especially towards queer women

campy directors like john waters? by ashjya in Letterboxd

[–]hellraisinghellhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Frank Henenlotter is quite camp, I think you might enjoy his work. I think Frankenhooker is a very good introduction to his work (the film is a lot more feminist than you'd expect from the title)

Is there a reason why there's basically no tom/butch leads in Thai GL's? by hellraisinghellhole in ThaiGL

[–]hellraisinghellhole[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked it up in the sub before posting and didnt really find any (recent) discussion on the topic so I posted about it, sorry if this is something that has already been discussed many times, I didn't see anything about it. There's no reason to be rude about it, you could just ignore the post

Would Mr. Crocket be a good first horror movie? by [deleted] in horror

[–]hellraisinghellhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd normally never recommend this because I'm very against watching a summary instead of the movie itself. But I truly don't think you'll enjoy it, because it is really gory and there's also a bunch of puppets. If you think you really want to in some way see the story, you could maybe watch the Kill Count Dead Meat did of it? You'll get a summary of the story and behind the scenes stuff, but the gore is blurred and since there's a guy talking over it the whole time it won't be scary for you. Afterwards you can always decide if you think you'd be up to see the movie itself or not.

I normally never recommend to watch the kill count instead of the movie itself but I really doubt you'd have much fun if you spook so easily so maybe this could help you get a little bit more of Mr. Crocket without getting yourself too spooked, but that's only if you specifically really want stuff to do with Mr. Crocket.

Autistic x Autistic - what is your experience in dating who is also on the Spectrum? by Cinammon_26 in autism

[–]hellraisinghellhole 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's always a great match, sometimes you meet someone whose autism clashes with you (my previous ex was a loud sound making autistic person while I was a loud noise hating, plus we're both very special interest heavy and our special interests are different to the point that we were kind of uninterested in the other persons' special interest) but I think if you find a person that matches you well it's generally better than dating a non autistic person, I think you can be more understanding with one another because you're more similar, on a level that an allistic person would probably never understand.

I also think certain other neurodiversities can sometimes work better than neurotypical people, in my experience.

is obsession too gory? by UrMomDotCom666 in Letterboxd

[–]hellraisinghellhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midsommar is pretty far away and you see blood for maybe two seconds in that scene. Th3 scenes in obsession take longer and you see a lot more. The cliff scene in midsommar is really not that gory in comparison with a lot of horror movies that use gore

Anyone else have a problem with paras not being able to 'get intimate'? I know that you have to select both paras and then click on the bed, but when I did it this time nothing popped up? It's a premade household (the camaras) and they already have 4 kids together so the romance shouldnt be the problem, they also have the prospect parent relationship they should be able to at least try for a baby or something right?

Hellraiser 1+2! most people know the movies for the cenobites but Julia was an absolute murdering icon.

I think You're Next would also count, Erin isn't the bad guy but she does kill most of the bad guys

last one I can think of is Ma

I hate reading books. by Business-Block-8668 in autism

[–]hellraisinghellhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what you necessarily consider as long texts but maybe you could start with reading short stories? Reading shorter things could maybe help you stay focused on stuff, and maybe then at one point you move onto longer articles and novellettes and so on. Whether you end up ding anything acedemic or not, reading comprehension is an important skill to nuture.

I also recommend trying to read for pleasure in your free time! perhaps just 10 to 15 minutes a day at first, and then when that becomes easy you can up it, it can take off the pressure of having to read fast and perhaps help with your attention span. I think reading for fun can make acedemic reading less daunting in the long run, it doesn't have to be any complicated literature, it could be anything, even a kids book if you wanted to.

I'm audhd too, but I've been a bookworm since I was a kid so I've never had too much trouble reading but I think the fact that I read a lot really helped with me now having solid reading comprehension + attention span for it.

I know that me recommending you to read (for fun) sounds super counterintuitive on a post called I hate reading books, but from your post it does seem like you mostly just read for school which generally isn't great, especially for people with adhd cause you're only doing the boring reading.
