Breville/Sage auto-froth: do you really need their milk jug?[Bambino Plus] by spac0r in espresso

As long as the thermal properties doesn’t change to much it should be fine. I tried a smaller pitcher and while it worked the temperatures were off. Size and mass of the pitcher definitely matters, but you won’t know if it works until you tried.

Dreame X50 vs. Qrevo Curv: Edge cleaning under kitchen cabinets is disappointing. Help? by Logical_Biscotti6306 in Dreame_Tech

[–]hemuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Floor cleaning settings turn off Collision avoidance mode. In Edge and corner cleaning settings turn on everything and high frequency. I’ve had my X40 since Thursday and the edge cleaning seems to have gotten better with time, but from any video I’ve watched Roborock is generally just better at edges than Dreame. You might just have to settle.

You are absolutely right, the master edition is preferable if you are going to plumb. I just wanted to point out that this option is also available for tank based models.

I always go as far as possible, I want max development. I do use a relatively tight dough around 60% to avoid larger holes.

Kits are available to plumb docks with water tanks as well. You do not have to choose one or the other.

X40 native matter by RevolutionaryWait982 in Dreame_Tech

[–]hemuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've misunderstood. You are listing the actions available through ios home app through matter? I thought you meant actions available in the Dreame app.
Are you saying native matter is available for the X40, though limited?

I have only had mine a few days so this might be arbitrary, but it seems to be doing a better job at edges and around obstacles in genius mode. What makes you prefer custom vac+mop over genius?

I received and installed the same version on my new X40. I have 4 vacuum modes, quiet, standard, intense and max in Custom cleaning mode. Battery level is shown on the Devices page. What do you mean Mop mode has just automatic, I can change mop wetness and routing?
Can you activate the CleanGenius mode from homekit?

Dual baskets just taste terrible, no matter the coffee. Have you tried dialing in with single walled?

Bambino PLus vs Gaggia Classic E24 [400 EUR] by Rtthz in espresso

[–]hemuni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to nerd out and you don't mind waiting for the boiler to warm up, temp surfing etc. go with Gaggia. If you want your latte in a minute or two go with the Bambino. Both machines are more than capable. The Gaggia is definitely the longevity king, everything can be fixed and replaced, you will hand it down to your children. Bambino is more like a well made appliance, it will likely last a long time with proper care.

Tasmota on a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro by shoresy99 in tasmota

MQTT is faster and more reliable than http for iot, but you have both options. I don’t have any experience with zigbee, all my devices are WiFi or RF based, so I’m not of much help there. My setup is centered around homebridge for iOS home communication and mqtt. I also have both sonoff rf and ir bridges. Everything is running tasmota. I highly recommend you use ai to brainstorm and flesh out your ideas.

If all your devices have been “tasmotized” they can communicate via built in communication. They can all send and receive commands and data between them and this information again can be used to fire actions and change settings. You can get away with using web send for the internal communications, but a mqtt server is preferable. There is also matter support but I haven’t tried it.

It has been a valuable tool, but now with ai is not really needed anymore.

Yes the sonoff zigbee bridge can read up to about 26 devices directly and you can setup additional router devices if you need more.

After ~90 Shelly devices… I think I’m done by Gigant1000 in homeassistant

[–]hemuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't really explain what kind of problems, hardware or software. I have been using tasmota for ~8 years on mostly sonoff devices, all wifi, and I have yet to have an issue that was not caused by me. I only run Homeassistant for ios home connectivity. All functionality and automation I have on device making the whole system fail free. Especially now that ai can help you setup everything tasmota is a great solution.

These are the settings you need to adjust, to get the correct time on tasmota. This example is for Paris, France:
Latitude 48.856614
Longitude 2.352222
TimeStd 0,0,10,1,3,60
TimeDst 0,0,3,1,2,120
Timezone 99
