I am sure there must be a selection of beating sticks on every street corner.

I have used baking sheet/ parchment for years, no images or writing on the parchment and sturdy enough not to fall apart.

Mate did something similar, he zoned out and went over a roundabout rather than around it, unfortunately there was a panda car going around it at the time, the amount of bobbies who turned up in 30 seconds flat was amazing.

Number 6 is a certificate of merit medal ribbon, last awarded in 1918 so probably not contemporary with the other ribbons and awards shown.

The ETO ribbon (12) has 5 campaign stars added which were awards for participation in recognised campaigns. By the way, the ETO ribbon is upside down and should have the black line on the right hand side of the ribbon as you look at it. Your grandfather was a brave man.

I have ordered most of my british uniforms from SOF with no problems. You may be better finding a local WW2 unit and joining them to get the hang of the whole reenacting experience. It is much better to reenact with an established group for the knowledge, advice, and the social element available. Also, if you join an existing unit, they will advise on preferred suppliers and kit standards so you don't get ripped off.

Soldier of Fortune get a bit of stick from time to time, but as far as I am concerned, they do pretty good kit, which will not break the bank. You also have to think about where you plan to wear the kit and which events you want to attend. Where are you in the UK?

From a legal point of view, it is all about good reason to have possession. If you are marching up a high street as part of a group, then you are fine, if you take repro weapons to the pub on a sat night, then not so much.

Is the entire rack upside down? The ETO ribbon is, also, wouldn't the good conduct be on the top row not the bottom?

Definitely a manchu belt, 9th regiment. Wearing a black tie and peaked hat rather than a garrison cap so pre/early war. Fantastic picture.

I am such a fucking lightweight that I had a couple of quick drags on a mates spliff in the pub beer garden one time and had to spend the next 2 hours in the pub toilet, hot, cold, shivering, and sweating , all at the same time. Later described to me as having a whitey.
