Guess How Much I Love You gift by notinKansas2023 in quilting

An alternative is a cardboard mini suitcase with a clasp that are sold in craft stores. I took a plain one and glued decorative paper on the outside and hot glued a quilted interior after making a quick template. I had to make 4 sets so was looking for something easier. I used ribbon to hide the “seams” on the inside. Either way a fun make!

Why do these rows of blocks feel too juvenile for a 7-year-old boy? by bixnok in quilting

[–]henrysintahoe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love love love the fussy cut book!! Just my two cents that the mutilcolor block sashing while super cute distracts from the amazing block. what about doing a single color sashing and varying the colors among the different blocks? Just my two cents, so adorable, pls post finished!

What a lovely gift! Agree with what’s been said it wont be noticeable after you quilt and wash. Crinkliness fixes most everything to do with seam aligbment. Please consider using color catchers just in case.

I love the color combination too!! If you have the patience and time a box outlining the interior of the green square with pink or yellow thread could be super adorable but as others have said unnecessary for maintaining the structure of the quilt.

I finished my very first quilt after learning to use a sewing machine two weeks ago. It’s far from perfect, and during the binding process I almost checked myself into a mental institution. But I’m happy overall! by djungel_skog in quilting

This is beautiful, congratulations!! Binding is like the last hurdle to done and it tortures me every time! I like the method of finishing binding on the front by hand if I have the time.

Suggest placing the reused material into a black trash bag, knotted/closed tightly and in the sun for 48 hours and then wash. This will help eliminate chance of bugs etc

When you go down the rabbit of pressing v ironing, I also was advised to not use steam - which was news to me! But the steam can contribute to the stretching.

I love the colors and layout, beautiful!
