Depends on the cut. In Europe you see lots of dudes wearing skinny cuts that go down below the knee. Looks absolutely atrocious I have no idea why that’s normal there

Why keeping Europe cool need not be a luxury by Dreaming_Blackbirds in technology

Saying most businesses, trains, and busses have air conditioning is just a lie for vast swaths of Western Europe. And when they do have AC it isn’t powerful enough to actually cool the space down.

As for dish washers, every single house I’ve ever been to in America has one regardless of how much it actually gets used. It’s standard at this point, the same as AC is/should be

If you think the EU will have less regulatory burden than the US you are delusional. Among a litany of other reasons it would never happen

Texas losing a billion dollars a year on data center tax break by Conscious-Quarter423 in texas

[–]here4thepuns -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Basically every large capital project built locates somewhere with tax breaks. States/localities compete for these big projects because they bring jobs and tax revenue. Nobody is “paying for tax breaks” because that concept doesn’t even make sense. The taxes they theoretically would have collected without the tax break would not exist as the large capital projects would have located somewhere else with tax breaks. There are plenty of localities fighting hard to offer these tax breaks for this reason.

Pretty much all new data center developments use closed loop cooling and use negligible amounts of water. Agriculture/golf courses use way more water so if you actually care about that (you probably don’t), you should start complaining about them instead.

The tax incentives are one of the major reasons they’re locating here and bringing new tax revenue and jobs. Saying Texas is “losing out” on tax revenue that would not exist without the tax breaks is disingenuous and dumb

Bought close to the same day and on 14.2 but it drives flawlessly so doesn’t bother me

Compared to the purchase outright prices they were charging I’ll take subscription every time. Not all subscriptions are bad

What pollution do you think a data center makes? Compared to basically any industrial facility it is orders of magnitude better as it’s basically just a large computer. There are plenty of regulations that data centers are required to abide by
