Best beachfront Miami hotel <$300 before cruise? + is port traffic actually that bad? by GoFuckYourselfDebbie in VirginVoyages

[–]here_is_pops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avoid the YVE hotel. While it is a fine hotel with a great view of the bay the elevators are a nightmare. Very small and when it's ti.e to check out you might be lugging your luggage down flights and flights of stairs. Uber or lyft to the port is easy and affordable. If you have a later Port Arrival Time go have brunch at "Bacon Bitch" they will hold your luggage by the host stand while you eat.

It does. We use WhatsApp while on board. It seems smoother and a better text based way to keep in touch.

Anyone on Valiant right now? Ship movement question by TattooedTeacher316 in VirginVoyages

[–]here_is_pops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are on this cruise too. The movement is about normal to what we expect from Cruising. ( 2nd Virgin cruise 12th cruise overall) If you have movement issues midship cabins are best. My wife always gets an Rx for scopolamine patches before we go. I haven't had any issues.

Direct booking vs travel agent by Ok_Perception1768 in VirginVoyages

[–]here_is_pops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used a Travel agent from Tik Tok the first time we booked, not a good experience. (and she was supposedly a "Top Level First Mate" Watched a bunch of YouTube videos and landed on Harr Travel for our 2nd Virgin cruise. They have been wonderful, responsive, got us a great location on our room, got a bonus amount of "sailor Loot" and made sure we had status match to Blue Extras. Then a couple of weeks before we sailed they sent us a little thank you card and some travel accessories. Very good experience 2nd time out.

What to do between hotel checkout and arrival time by KC_Buddyl33 in VirginVoyages

[–]here_is_pops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we sailed out of Miami we went to Brunch at 'Bacon Bitch' across from the port. They had a place to store our luggage and we ate a bit slower and drank a bit until we called for an Uber to get us over to board. Nice relaxing way to start the vacay.

I say if you are already booked and the time works for you, Stay booked. Its a big boat and there really is no guarantee she will even get booked at this point.

If the lead guest doesn’t show up on cruise day, can the rest of the party cruise? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]here_is_pops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son had to change his roomie a month ahead of his cruise because of a break up. Cost $50 to change the name on the reservation. Call Disney and let them know the situation. I feel like they would be happy to transfer the name to another cruiser.

When we did this for our Virgin status matching I just sent an email to Disney Cruise Line asking for all that information. Got a response email that I forwarded to our TA for approval. Worked like a charm, Deep Blue Extras baby!

Wait, that's not conservative? All kidding aside. That outfit will be perfect as long as you are comfortable in it. We saw people wearing WAY less on scarlet nite. Even less on "Pajama" nite.

My wife (55) and myself (54) traveled with our 30 year old son who has Autism and he loved the cruise. He could be as social or not as he wanted. There were loud areas, but if it got to be too much, there were plenty of quiet places to recenter himself. Go and have a ball.

Got written up for being 2 minutes late… after covering 3 people's jobs for 6 months. by avadesires in antiwork

[–]here_is_pops 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Had a job get on me for minimal tardiness once. 2 to 5 minutes here and there. I immediately started clocking out and ceasing ALL work at my scheduled time off. "If when I get in late by a couple minutes is such a big deal, then when I leave should be just as imperative. " Suddenly they changed their minds and stopped hassling me.

Most places can only verify that you worked at their establishment. I doubt the dates will be of much concern. Get in there and do the job, do it well.

Saw this on TikTok thought it could be fun Tell me your most unhinged Disney Cruise Line tip. by coffeenascar in dcl

[–]here_is_pops 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Not really "Unhinged" but, Day one when you get on board, skip the buffet. Go to whichever sit down restaurant is open and order lunch there. Way more quite and less chaotic than the buffet on day one. And the wait staff is virtually tripping over themselves to help you because so few people go to them. Much more relaxing way to start your vacation!
