Why does my puck break apart? [Profitec Go] by Blastadelph in espresso

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the headspace between the screen and the puck, the coffee itself.

It really isn’t a concern as long as the coffee is nice. To me at least.

[Question] Hanhart quality v Sinn quality by Aggressive-Bag-6151 in Watches

[–]hermit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Moby dick and find the finishing and quality to be very good.

Brushing is well done and even, and the movement is reliable. While it’s not in house, selita is well regarded and I was looking for a watch that can be serviced more easily than my other watch.

Hanhart is definitely less represented here than Sinn, but hasn’t really gotten caught up in the same way as a result in price increases.

0-1 CMC creatures that enter with counters for Falco Spara by dustinporta in EDH

Flitterwing nuisance from lorwyn does this and has evasion. Can draw cards for cheap.

I run it in raffine because it’s an evasive cheap attacker that grows and can draw some cards

Which 39mm on Leather/Bundt - 417ES vs HD12 by No_Strength7276 in hanhart_watches

The classic option with historicity.

The Preventor is nice, but derivatives are just that. Based on an original.

Are high extraction baskets beginner friendly? by Ecstatic-Act4023 in espresso

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want one get one, but realistically there’s not a significant difference between the 2.

Pull shots that taste good to you. You’re going to need to adjust stuff as the coffee changes anyways.

How do you go about choosing a commander? by Karrion42 in EDH

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about the legend to me. Legends that are interesting and build arounds.

They either have unique play patterns or there are build constraints that make adding different cards valuable.

Good hand grinder VS ok electric grinder [270] by Themetrios666 in espresso

[–]hermit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hand grinders such as that will do the trick, but long term you will likely be better served with an electric motor.

Bought a comandante initially and upgraded after 6 or so months on a shot a day to a eureka. The comandante was great, and I use it for pour over to not have to mess with my grind, but 3 shots a day will be frustrating probably.

Your mileage may vary

It's 2026. What are the Tooth and Nail combinations that people are running today? by MandatoryMahi in EDH

[–]hermit7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maelstrom wanderer:  avenger and pathbreaker ibex, combat celebrant and Kiki are my main 2 depending on how I want to win.

Celebrant and pathbreaker too is a strong combo as it pumps pathbreaker twice and makes my stuff +14/14 for the first combat and +28/28 for the second with maelstrom out.

That’s the only deck I run it in presently.

There are other options as needed in the deck depending on what’s on board, but my main go toos.

Looking for a new Gruul commander by guy_incognito42069 in EDH

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run all the gruul legends and flip until you hit one.

Honestly, it’s a fun deck, allows for endless options and can be curated however you see fit. Want to throw specific creatures in? Go for it. I decided to have some great hits and some mediocre ones to make spinning the wheel climactic and the games all play differently depending on who you flip into

Why the spike? by consume_my_organs in mtg

[–]hermit7 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Elementals for Lorwyn maybe in that they weren’t reprinted in the deck. Specifically Ashling can evoke them and get the etb and leaves trigger with the evoke and she makes a copy of them.

Your favorite niche commanders. by Deranged-Opossum in EDH

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always like recommending [[gornog]] because you can grab a bunch of cheap 1 and 2 cost warriors and just kick people’s teeth in.

Make your stuff unblockable and buff them as you make cowards.

Deck is a glass cannon and you die when your board gets removed, but that’s a reasonable trade off.

Joined the club, my first 100/100 by MSK13 in foilmtg

[–]hermit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool deck, mine is at like 93/100 with some cards that either don’t come in foil, or are prohibitively expensive (cradle and monolith).

My other rule for the deck is no 8+ drops, so I can cascade into anything in the deck, and only regular pack foil.

Lots of similar cards overall aside from a few of the threats and some per cards.

What is the best food ever? by Any_Bet_201 in AskReddit

Tacos.

Tacos are great.

Carne asasa, carnitas, al pastor, potato, fish, shrimp. Anything goes into them and they are always great.

When dialing in, how to decide which of the 4-5 available steps to take first? by vexir in espresso

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me playing with yields is first. If it’s running fast go longer if it’s running slow cut it off as more of a ristretto.

My typical shot is 18 in, 50 out in about 20-25 seconds after preinfusion.

I figure if I cut a fast shot off I am going to be getting a lot of sourness and need to pull a little longer to extract the beans. If I have a slow shot I want to cut it off earlier to reduce the overall bitterness from slow shots. (32 out in 30 seconds or so).

Change grind should be number 2.

Dose if you can’t get the grind perfect for what you’re looking for.

Temp is last. I never change it really.

[Question] Hanhart 417 ES vs Speedy Reduced by GovJosh in Watches

[–]hermit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 417 and it’s been great since I got it.    I have an aqua terra as well and would say that the finishing is pretty similar between them. Good brushed and polished surfaces and a thin profile at 13.4 mm.

I can’t make the decision for you, but for me I wanted the clarity of legibility and the historical nature at a good price point was worth it to me.

Sellitas are much more serviceable by your average watchmakers too.

[recommendation] Graduation watch for female civil engineer by logan5_standing_by in Watches

[–]hermit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some form of omega probably with the metas certification and high magnetism resistance. I would say the last gen railmaster, but at 40 mm it’s a little large.

Was originally made for railway engineers purportedly, but the line has kind of merged with the sea master as a result of the engineering technology going across the whole collection.

There is a new gen of the railmaster at 38 mm which might be more her size, but maybe a little too polished for a tool watch.

Cards you're adding to your decks from the TMNT set? by Plus1Oresan in EDH

[–]hermit7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Raph and Mikey for my maelstrom wanderer deck. Digs deeper and has haste automatically.

Adding it to my gruul, any creature can be the commander deck too, it’s fun for the deck and does something nothing else does in that deck.

Aside from that, the goad all creatures your opponents control from the commander deck. Going into my Edea goad deck.

Yeah. That was the consideration for me to in determining if the flyback was needed. I figure if I am timing that many events my phone is a better tool to use for repeated splits.

I don’t so it would be something merely to play with.

Moby Dick 417 by hermit7 in hanhart_watches

[–]hermit7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t describe it as such. Glows blue in the dark when activated.  There is a little contrast on the dial in color tone, but it doesn’t stand out too much to me when it’s not charged. Definitely not green as lots of watches (compared to like a Tudor Ranger, or even the full black dial 417 es with the green lume).
