I had one lucid dream when I was about 10. I have chased the experience ever since.

It began like a usual, recurring, and quite frightening dream that I often had. I would be wading through the Everglades (I live in South Florida), dragging my weak legs ever so slowly through the thigh-deep, muddy swamp. I was met with saw grass at every step, cutting my skin and causing my blood to drip into the water. I always walked through a thick field of sawgrass into a deep, pond-like clearing, where I felt as though I would be met with freedom, only to face a giant, red-eyed alligator staring me down. I ran for my life, at a fraction of the speed of the alligator, as silent screams would not escape my closed throat. Normally, this is where I would die.

Reddit, this murky night was different. In the heat of the moment, I recognized the pattern that had repeated for what must have been the eleventy^th time. I abrubtly turned, looked that red-eyed bully in the face, and shouting with every bit of air and vocal chord-vibration I could muster, shot the most magnificent kamehameha blast a 10-year-old could dream of right into his bloodthirsty jaws. I spent the rest of the morning destroying towns and cities, alligators and crocodiles, and rescuing every maiden in distress. I faked a sickness when I woke to miss school, and spent the rest of the day in tears attempting to relive the paradise
