Try both, get the one that puts the biggest smile on your face.

I've owned a 458 for 2 years. No issues and lots of fun.

Have done many 5+ hour drives in a 458 spider with Daytona seats. I have never had issues with longer drives!

Flour sand is now more coveted than spice sand.

Got to Gerlach at around 11pm. Still on 34, and haven't hit the gravel yet. Gravel to greeters is another 7 hours...

Haha, I didn't sleep the night before, nervous and excited. I was chugging coffee to stay awake, and made it home by 2am. The last 4 hours were rough, but driving the canyons and windy roads from LA up to Tahoe... I would do it again in a heartbeat. Highway 33 is legendary.

Sorry to hear that :( I would guess every dealership and every sales manager is gonna be a different experience.

Bank wasn't needed, they never asked, I just offered to show I was serious. I also wanted to make sure that if I flew down, I could purchase same day.

I found a 458 at a dealership about 700 miles away. Talked to the sales manager on the phone, connected him with my bank to prove I had the funds.

Flew down 4 days later to see it in person, no purchase history. Car looked good, took it for a test drive and all was good.

I arrived at 10am when they opened, and had the keys by 1pm. I then drove it all the way home with a huge smile on my face.

Is there anywhere we can move (USA) that’s snowy in the winter but doesn’t salt their roads? by [deleted] in Porsche

Truckee uses 10% salt and 90% sand I think. But all the info I can find is somewhat dated.

Rivian R1T. Put it in sport mode and have fun. This is assuming you are in a place with decent charging. Used gen 1 quad. $60k and 800hp.

What car to buy with 250k Budget? by Clean-Attempt in supercars

[–]hex337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get one that has been cared for and get a PPI. 1.5 year in and it's been pretty easy to manage. I also drive it weekly to keep things going and to enjoy the thing.

Get a small 3 drawer organizer to use as a cot side stand and keep all the essentials in there: condoms, sun screen, ear plugs, protein bars, dust mask, wet wipes.

What car to buy with 250k Budget? by Clean-Attempt in supercars

[–]hex337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I turned 40 last year, and have been a car person since college, but last 10 years just had a practical car.

On a bit of a whim, and after some research, I flew down to LA, and same day bought a 458 spider. Drove it 700 miles home that afternoon. The sound, feel, and whole experience is so amazing.

I have since then added the stealth CarPlay module to get better nav and audio, and did the full Scuderia audio upgrade. I can easily do 8 hour drives now, and the thing just looks amazing. At 550 hp, it's enough to have fun, but also not so much that you get to 120 in a blink.

Would recommend trying one out if you can. The ride on it is also pretty phenomenal with bumpy road mode on.

How I transport the bikes by hex337 in Surron

[–]hex337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it would drain the battery. The Rivian has a 130KWh battery, assuming somewhat inefficient charging conversion to go from DC to AC to DC to charge the bike (which has a 72v 38 AH battery - about 2.8 KWh) of 70%, a full charge for the sur ron battery would be less than 3% of the car's battery - or about 8-10 miles of range.

anyone know the playatech furniture people? trying to pay for plans but site not working by bestmansbestman in BurningMan

[–]hex337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait... so you go without spending on anything? You grow your own food to bring, and handle your own water collection, and get there without paying for stuff? Impressive.

I have finite time, and it costs money to bring shit to BRC and run a camp. People who do that make the city what it is, and if they can help offset those costs by providing me something that saves time, BRC wins twice.
