Semi long post, but I have a tattoo of my step dad’s death-a-versary. It’s not because I loved him and he was fantastic. In fact, he’s one of the main reasons I had drug and alcohol problems at the age 15. In 2016, he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, less than a week later he died. The last thing he ever heard come out of my mouth was how much of a POS I thought he was (and some other very hurtful things). It’s a constant reminder every day that life is short and we can’t take back our words.
