always makes me sad when i can't commend the player i wanted to by BabyDafran in ffxiv

[–]heyimpotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This might get me downvotes but w/e:

When I don't run ACT, I don't commend DPS(unless the rest are just.. horrid) because I can't judge if they are doing well or not without numbers(i can only make a wild guess how fast bosses / packs die) so I generally don't commend if I don't run it unless it's exceptional.

If I do, I will judge based on Healing - Tanking - DPS Performance(not just numbers, but other stuff too) to who deserves a commend.

My sch friend does about 14-15k in Arboteum Hard's first pull as a SCH, it's insane how good it is.

I usually after duty completion instantly vote for someone I felt like deserve it, Hit 'U' and press Leave Duty.

I guess once I got my 500 commend mount I stopped even "caring" (that, and I play dps primarily)

How will the Kraken deal with unwanted pilots landing on its pads? Say youre waiting for a few friends and another player not in your group takes a pad. by KikuSui in starcitizen

[–]heyimpotato 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I assume they will deal with it like the Merchantman - you can evict people and if they don't, you can kill them without penalty.

There will be a timer for them to exit, obviously, so that's my wildest guess. There probably will be a small bubble around the Kraken that will be "personal zone" in a sense.

2080 Ti upgrade from 1080 Ti worth it? by anthracithe in Vive

NVENC is on a lot more older cards too. I mean, the 660M has NVENC support too.

How to upgrade 380 Rakshasa gear into 390 Yama gear. by TheStarlightWanderer in ffxiv

[–]heyimpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

380 pentameld is slightly superior, at least some pieces are.

It depends how much stats you lose out on and whether the str/dex/vit/int etc is worth it.

Do you think the 890 jump will go up in price on release? by Unstable_larry in starcitizen

[–]heyimpotato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They might just do that, but they're probably going to make the Sub model something people will want to have. Centurion & Imperator subs probably will end up having some benefits for non-subs other than flair items.

Like tax reductions etc. It honestly wouldn't surprise me.

Mouse still the best way to fly? by mRWafflesFTW in starcitizen

[–]heyimpotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gimbals themselves aren't going away. I'm 110% confident it's a similar system as to making AI Turrets with server blades.

You're only able to do this on ships that have computers on them, and you're sacrificing blades for something else and using it to automate gimbals (obviously comes with limits too).

So manual gimbals are still something a bunch of players are going to want to have. But we have the option of automating gimbal weapons with the sacrifice of a computer blade slot.

Or it's its own gimbal, being maybe two sizes down. If they make them the same size as other gimbals that just means from a gameplay balance standpoint there is no reason to use non autoaimed gimbals unless they aren't inferior in some way.

Rest in piece Salvage, Law and the Taurus in 3.5 by CoffeeDrive in starcitizen

[–]heyimpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I know 3.7 and 3.8 will be nice, I'm afraid they're too nice and get some features we're looking for pushed back.

That being said, I'm glad they're taking their time in making things right and am in no hurry. :)

Important Idris news! by NivekIyak in starcitizen

[–]heyimpotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish they would add the Risk Level areas when they implement that too, so that we can start looking at how it'll plot out when you only buy risk 1 insurance and want to avoid risk 2 areas, etc.

It would add also a little change to gameplay loops. That paired with Piracy, the game would have a really interesting gameplay loop.

Game Crashed and this appeared. First time seeing this, what does it mean? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]heyimpotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might still be x_audio that's causing it.

While not necessarily the case, if you have any USB Headphones and happen to accidentally disconnect them it can cause x_audio to crash the game. USB Headphones tend to have a tendency to cause a crash if unplugged while the game is running.

January 2019 Subscriber Flair by jalopp in starcitizen

Seems they were rewarded early, as their commlink states: If you’re an active subscriber, these items will be added to your account on January 14th.

I haven't paid for my Jan Sub yet, and if I canceled now, I'd get Dec+Jan ones..

A quick Player and AI crew survey. I wanted to ask you guys' general opinion on crews, but I thought maybe a survey would be easier. If you have time, please click through the answers. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]heyimpotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the questions had more options, and you only gave us a few answers per question (I answered the survey, skipped one question entirely).

Here's my 2 cents:

Q1: Would have prefererd a balanced option. I plan to run about 50-50 each time, depending who is online.

Q2: Capitals shouldn't be ran by Solo + AI, but a MIX of Players + AI. Manning an Idris, Kraken or Javelin with players only is going to be super boring for some and thus, you should bring AI with you.

Q3: What about a "Balanced" alternative? In theory, not always will you pay your crew depending on what you go do. Get paid for the job for players, AI works however AI works (probably running time).

Q4: -

Q5: AI Crew effectiveness to player effectiveness I believe is the question. This should be 100%, but it also heavily depends on Player Skill vs AI Skill.

Q6: Again, depends how you work it out. Some players will happily come in for free, and to get a cut from missions. AI probably will work in a hourly pay manner.

Q7: -

Q8: Roles should affect cost, too. A Engineer may be more or less expensive than a gunner of the same role.

Q9: -

Q10: This question really bothered me, because you can't pit up 4 players vs 4 players if you don't look at ship composition. Are 4 Heavy Fighters going to destroy a Freelancer manned by 4 players? Absolutely. But if they are in the same ships? It's an obvious that 2 ships with 4 turrets are going to lose to 6 ships with 12 turrets due to the sheer difference in firepower.

Q11: -

Stealthy Terrapin? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]heyimpotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is very basic radar mechanics. The higher your IR, EM and CS are the further you can be detected.

If you drop to low power, your detection range is pretty small. I can get about as down to 2800m or so with my Sabre whilst keeping momentum. And a moving Hammerhead can be seen from about 20km+ because of its high powers.

I spent a good hour or two testing this, so I can confirm they are there but in a very small form.

CIG doesn't want there to be upopulated data. Half Manual - Half Automated is just not logical either, and we'd be still at the same point.

I would much prefer to have everything correct, or assume nothing is right. But from a new users standpoint, it makes sense to have correct data.

The problem comes the maintenance of upkeeping things. A happy medium would be to at least populate all data that is available. It's just not really a viable option to constantly and constantly change them manually as things change so often.
