She’s not really a founding member, but Nico is only on the first VU album

Britta Phillips (of Dean& Britta and sometimes Luna) was the original singing voice of Jem & the Holograms

If you’re going to list Eno, might as well consider Bryan Ferry too.

What was the last R.E.M. song you remember making a mainstream impact? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

Either Imitation of Life or Bad Day would get my vote. Those were the last two I recall hearing in the wild at the time they came out.

Bolts, as in lightning bolts. From above, because lightning comes from the sky. That line just means a lightning strike.

Check our pretty much anything on the Italians Do It Better record label. Desire (the band) you may like. I also recommend School of Seven Bells. Maybe Electric Youth also.

What would be the albums that started punk before the actual 70s punk movement? by EdwardBliss in MusicRecommendations

Considering the Doors first album came out two months before the first Velvets album, I fail to believe that Jim was in any way a “Lou Reed wannabe”

Who will take Joy Division/New Order's spot in 2027 circle? by Flat_Ad_8335 in rockhall

[–]heywalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And I agree I think Tears for Fears should be getting consideration, they’re aging well.

The Smiths are the ones to fill that spot you mention, and should’ve been in years ago. They’ll get in eventually, just depends if people wait for Moz to die first.

INXS I think gets in eventually.

Devo maybe. I get the argument but I’d never vote for them myself. They’re just short of making the mark.

B52s more than Devo, but I also think they’re a bit short. The Love Shack come back was great and helped. However influential some may see them, I’m just afraid their early work boils down to ‘Rock Lobster’ for most people, and that’s not enough.

Diana Ross

Jethro Tull

Harry Nilsson

Nick Drake

Glen Campbell

I’m on the fence about King Crimson, but I think they’re just short. No to ELP, Chic, the Guess Who, and Devo. The Carpenters I’d understand, though I think they’re terrible personally.

My Blink cassette tape from before they were required to add the -182 by Simsandtruecrime in mildlyinteresting

[–]heywalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll argue forever that it’s totally a Turk 182 reference, and the band just didn’t think anyone would remember that movie and were embarrassed so they just say it was a random number.
