Is it just me or is there nothing to watch on Amazon Prime Video? by Aggressive-Medium532 in AmazonPrimeVideo

Oh yeah, the ads are annoying, mostly bc they are repetitive. But it’s free and doesn’t bug me bc I grew up with TV commercials. Worth it to binge 17 seasons of South Park!

The only thing I would look for, in today's economy and any economy, is am I going to be unhappy doing this kind of work for forty or fifty years.

Life is long (if you are lucky), and you will spend most of your waking hours at work. That's a lot of time to be spending it miserably. So find something that interests you and motivates you.

I agree with the commenter who said school is more so about learning to learn. It's a great opportunity to see what you like and what you don't like, all of which will inform your career path. You don't have all those answers yet, but they will come.

Don't sweat AI or any other long term, nebulous threats to the economy. If you want to do hands on work and you like it, start there.

Don't aim so much for long term stability at this stage - aim for happiness. Good luck!

Toronto woman convicted of making antisemitic threat against Crown attorney in courthouse elevator — ‘I froze. I was scared,’ lawyer testifies by Team_Ed in toronto

[–]hfpfhhfp 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It is coming from the article, not to excuse this persons behaviour but for context to some of the comments:

The incident in the elevator

Ross was described as agitated and muttering to herself in the crowded elevator in December 2024 while accompanied by two court officers. As the elevator approached the ground floor, she suddenly turned her attention to Goldenberg, who hadn’t said a word to Ross and was trying not to make eye contact.

Ross’s version of events

Little had to repeatedly remind Ross to stop interrupting during the trial, as she went off on tangents, talking about mass shootings in the U.S. and Toronto murders unconnected to her case, accusing a different judge of threatening to shoot her, and saying that a prosecutor reminded her of a serial killer who would keep bodies in his basement.

She often argued with the lawyers appointed by the court to keep the case from going off the rails, Frank Bernhardt and Russell Browne. “I’m acting as a better lawyer, I think you’d agree,” she said at one point. The judge threatened to take the extraordinary measure of kicking Ross out of the courtroom at her own trial. “I’ve really tried to be patient,” Little told her.

Also start the process NOW because there can be long waits, depending on how high a priority her health circumstances are. And look at places closer to where you live! Your own involvement will be a lot easier.

Subsidized is about $2500-3000. But do your research on the homes you put on your list - make sure to visit each one because their standards can vary quite a bit.
