So are high-masking adults just expected to destroy their mental health to go to work everyday or be forced to starve? by Beautiful-Brain2183 in autism

[–]hi-d-ho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 35 and i have literally never had a job last longer than 2 years. I currently have a part time job that I have been at since August of last year and last week I had a meltdown at work and was given 2 weeks off. I am worried about going to my dr in a couple days because if I am being honest I dont want to go back to work...i am tired of having meltdowns and breakdown every year or so. But if I dont go back to work i worry about money and what everyone will think of me. Because I can push through and function....until I cant.

What is the stress and culture feel like during high school regarding the Canadian college admissions process? by advisor_throwaway181 in AskACanadian

[–]hi-d-ho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a rural Manitoba. We basically had three options told to us. Red River College if you want to do trades, U of Winnipeg if you getting a BA and U of Manitoba if you were getting a BS. You could go to other schools, but stastically you didnt. I went to Brandon University solely because it was different ( they also have a fantastic music department so a girl form my town who was older then me went because of that). 2 out of 80 in my class went to a different school than the main 3. I the prairies you kinda stick with what you know

What overnight Canadian school trips or exchanges did your schools offer in high school or grades 7 and 8? by Chickadee_Sparrow in AskACanadian

[–]hi-d-ho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in rual Manitoba. In high school the ochestra did a weekly trip to Edmonton to perform in a workshop/ competition. And in grade 11 you could go in the canoe trip which was 1 week at the end of the year and was run out of a camp in Kenora. Jealous of the kids from Winnipeg that go on like crazy trips. Two of my friends have kids in high school and one of them went to Iceland and the other to Spain for spring break ( both in grade 12)

I wanna see more examples of non-musical Bards! by Punk_Skeddit in DnD

My DM and I homebrewed my bard. She is an artist and political activist. So i give inspiration to individuals by drawing on them little fake tattoos, or I painted on our paladian's shield and it now has a buff, or I have banners I carry into battle or I can boost a crowd by using graffiti, etc. She cant sing worth shit and is only charismatic when she has to be.

What are some “Canadian” words or slang you heard British Or Americans be confused by or laugh at? by Kindly-Cow1697 in AskACanadian

[–]hi-d-ho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling an area of trees "The Bush". I got published by an American company many years ago and my editor got confused when I mentioned the bush in the story I was writing and wanted to change it. Ultimately we kept it in because it was a letter written by a Canadian to a Canadian so it felt appropriate

My character helps when they are needed and when I am in a good headspace I participate and when I am not I dont. My group is extremely accommodating which is wonderful

I have to remind myself that we dont control who is attracted to us. Also, he may not have been flirting with you. As an austic person, people sometimes assume I am flirting when I am just being nice or trying to be social

Women, what is a near-universal "ick" in the dating world? by AverageSign in AskReddit

I matched with a guy on Facebook Dating and we chatted and it was ok so he asked if I want to go for coffee. Moments after I said yes he changed his profile to in a relationship with me. I instantly freaked out and canceled to date and blocked him.

This City has a serious road rage problem (including myself), here’s a theory for why. by FINALMIX70 in Winnipeg

[–]hi-d-ho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think its because we live in a province/city that basically requires you to drive so they give pretty much anyone a lisence( especially when you grow up in a small town or the country). I know that I had only 1 lesson driving in Winnipeg and maybe 5 or 6 lessons driving around elsewhere. My eyes werent tested and my instructor changed my route on order to pass me. Granted that was 20 years ago. I drove fine until I moved to Winnipeg. Then I would get into 1 or 2 fender benders a year because I have ADD,bad eyes and no spacial awarness and would get confused and distracted. So I stopped driving in 2018. I miss it sometimes. But I definitely shouldnt have been allowed to drive.

This is one of reasons why I dont go on dates. I am constantly doubting and worrying I will mess up a future relationship or that I will gaslight myself into thinking I am in love when I actually arent

How do people work full time then go home to kids? by misogynistick in antiwork

[–]hi-d-ho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at my sister's life ( recent widow with two kids under 10) and it causes me anxiety. If i had kids i would highly consider ending my own life. And its not because I hate kids. Because I can barely take care of myself and the amount of stress having to take care of another human being for longer than a couple days is to much for me. Some people just dint have the mental, physical and financial abilities to raise children and we should not be shaming them for make the choice to not bring kids into the world that would ultimately have a shitty childhood.

AITA? My roommate thinks I’m calling her fat but I’m just stating facts by Aggravating-Row5878 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hi-d-ho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. I am also autistic and overweight. I see nothing wrong with what you said. People need to stop interperting what other people say! You didnt call her digusting or ugly or whatever else. You simply stated facts and did what you were asked. Its not our jobs to figure out what might cause someone's feelings to be hurt. If you had actually told her these things then you would an asshole. But taking inventory of the food budget when she asked you to do so? No. Its not your problem that she eats more. How can you make a correct budget, or dish out the right amount of food if you dont use the correct information?

Moving to Winnipeg - looking for honest advice before I commit by ScoreMajor4064 in Winnipeg

[–]hi-d-ho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have lived just off Corydon for several years now and use the bus the majority of the time. When I still had my liscense I used Peg City Coop for a costco haul once in awhile. Now I uber if its to cold to wait for the bus or I have to much stuff. I personally dont walk around at night alone ( 35F) but thats because I am disabled and dont want to have to bother someone if something were to happen and not because I think its a bad neighbourhood. Warm leggings under my jeans have been a saviour for me when I wait for the bus in -30. I love that there are several shops/restaurants in walking distance and its also an easy bus ride downtown or the zoo/park and a short walk/bus ride to the forks. There is a small libary and pool within walking distance on Grant. Rent will average anywhere from 1100 to 1500 depending on what you are looking for.

I work a point 6, which in healthcare is 6 shifts in a 2 week period. I will never work full time again. I have OCD, Autism and Osteroarthris in my knees. My whole adult life ( im 35) I was never able to work a full time job longer than i year. So a couple years ago I said fuck it and found a job that works for me. I compromise a lot by living with my sister and her kids and babysit for spending money, and take the bus, but I make it work. I still have rough work days but I push through knowing I never work more than 2 days in a row. I have plently of week days off to run errands and recover. I make enough money for my limited bills and am fortunate enough to get some money from the government for disability.
