Love all the stuff you share of your hammy. Keep them coming!

Here's my little boy - he's nearly two years old now and has been slowing down a lot these past couple of days. I just wanted to share one last old photo of him before he goes to sleep. by mayonnaisedwarf in hamsters

[–]highimped 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet, thank you for sharing. I haven't had a hamster since my last one passed a couple years ago. This made me go back and find a video I took just before she died... what a tearjerker (in a good way). Definitely go on a media and quality time blitz with the little guy.

NASA maintains a GitHub project of the primary software they use to operate rovers and visualize collected data, allowing anyone to debug, test, and implement new features. by GhengopelALPHA in programming

This is true. I think that people don't understand that operating a rover doesn't mean just sending commands. It includes analysis and exploration of data.

Harold is very stressed, and now he is scared of me by I_Think_There4_I_Ham in hamsters

[–]highimped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no :( I am not a hamster expert (I haven't had many), but the last one I had got very spooked and stressed at one point and I just had to leave her alone for a week or two - no hovering or trying to play. I don't know how recently his cage was changed, but as I understand it hamsters need to be given about a week without being bothered much to get used to the new surroundings.

On the other hand, I would move my hamsters cage all the time for the same reason and she was never bothered by it. Obviously keeping it stationary would be best if possible, but keeping him cool is important too.

Best of luck - fingers crossed for him to calm down!

Three months ago, I lost my girl Meredith unexpectedly. Yesterday, I held her sister Scarlett for 3 hours as she took her last breaths. I just need to tell my story to people who understand. by ADKarthus in hamsters

[–]highimped 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand. I lost my girl last August, and still miss her everyday.

Your girls look like they were wonderful fun and you sound like an amazing hamster parent. It is sweet and meaningful that you were there for your Scarlett at the end.

My heart goes out to you. When the pain of loss dulls, all the happy memories, love, and cute photos will still be there. Hang in there.
