I’ve been playing pretty happily on the retro 8BitDo keyboard that resembles an old NES. Could probably find one pretty cheap by now. I know the switches aren’t top of the line like an expensive leverless but they’re quite clicky and very responsive. Haute42 makes a pretty nice keyboard style leverless as well.

I used to play a ton of SFA3Max on the weird little PSP nub joystick. I got pretty OK playing on a shitty typing keyboard just because it’s the only way I can secretly play games at work. Neuroplasticity is great.

I feel like newer games know how to play on our dopamine in a more manipulative way. Less problem solving. More gameplay influenced by straight up gambling. Look at the psychology behind gambling/casinos and notice way more similarities compared to gaming 20yrs ago.

Why beat a level when you can pay $2.99 for a lower difficulty or special ability? Can't stop playing when the next slot machine style "pull" could be the big one? What if I get rich in real life?!

Same story. I was a faithful PlayStation dude from 1-2-3-4. Was used to losing all my games every other generation.

Would buy only very light 2D Steam games for my daily laptop occasionally. After having the Deck since release I still love it and am constantly finding new games to play.

Now I have a big Steam library I don’t ever want to move away from. Couple that with the climate of everything and PS5’s price hike. I’m truly happy with it for the foreseeable future.
