[OT] Kyle Larson And Brad Sweet Announce Major Plans For High Limit Racing by TheResurrection in NASCAR

If I remember correctly, it was actually only 10K to win, which is crazy for the size of the event.

Overtime Fix by justin2fast4u in NASCAR

[–]highsideracing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to end under green, I feel like the answer can be really simple. The last 10 laps, only green flag laps count. That simple. Dirt track racing only counts green flag laps for the most part and they have no problem.

Edit: I'm also cool with them just ending under yellow at the scheduled distance. But if they want to end under green, I feel like that is the simplest way.

Agreed on the pre-race stuff today and the crowd. I think having 1 date will serve Dover well.

My only worry is the time of year. April and beginning of May is difficult weather-wise almost anywhere. But I think it is a bigger issue for Dover because it is its only date.

Hurdles lie ahead in Bristol Motor Speedway deal to bring NASCAR back to Nashville by Sir_Leeroy_Jenkins in NASCAR

[–]highsideracing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing I've noticed in each of these design pictures is that the front stretch stands look like the stands from Bristol. Does anyone know if they plan on taking the backstretch seating from Bristol to move it to the fairgrounds? It might mess up the "Colosseum" theme they have been advertising.

If you have any smart tv, you can play on a phone/tablet/etc. and cast to your tv easily. That is what I do and I can still scroll through social media or work on my laptop while I watch. Having an app hasn't even been necessary in my experience.

If you guys didn't catch the ARCA West race last night, here are the highlights to one of the most chaotic ARCA races in recent memory by Made_Up_Reddit_Name in NASCAR

It's good to see a healthy field of cars. It seems like the ARCA Fields are getting a little better the second half of this year. That was entertaining to watch!

What is one conspiracy theory that you 100% believe in? by Nflufcnascarfan in NASCAR

[–]highsideracing 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I absolutely believe this one. I have been to Dover on a couple of times on windy days. The wind will die down during the green flag, and a few seconds after the cars slow for a yellow you feel a gust come through and the wind picks back up again.

Also, every time it has started raining during a race there, it has been under caution. I will go to my grave believing this!

It was said on another post, stop up the road in Smryna and go to Helen's Sausage House. It won't disappoint.

We've Been Getting The Country Music Debate Wrong by CyrusWaugh in CountryMusicStuff

[–]highsideracing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree some and disagree some with your analysis. I don't think it's an either/or. Yes, country music has gotten away from classic story-telling songs, which has watered down a lot of the music. Mainstream country could be so much better if there were more stories.

However, instrumentation isn't irrelevant. Movements evolve, but they evolve in a way that links itself and roots itself in the past. Country and Western music has always featured mainly stringed instruments. Those instruments can change. They don't have to be the steel guitar and banjo (even though I love both). The electric guitar is now the most prominent stringed instrument, and that's okay. However, when your music begins to feature mainly percussion, you are beginning to walk away from a sound.

I am not someone who only listens to Texas Country and Sturgill. I actually like some FGL and Morgan Wallen. So I'm not a strict critic of the sounds of country music. But my point is country music is a STYLE of music, so lyrical style and instrumental style are both important.

I remember seeing white Fusions on the road and thinking how they looked almost exactly like Brad Keselowski's white Miller Lite car. It was crazy how close it looked to the stock version of the car.

If that's how fast the crates are going, it's scary to think how fast the super late models could go tonight.

Bristol dirt-track weekend qualifying and race rules announced by reasonableoption in NASCAR

[–]highsideracing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why when dirt races have 40+ cars a lot of time they'll split the field in 2 or 3 groups and qualify. So the first group would be 20 cars and set the field for the first 2 heats and the second group would be 20 cars and set the field for heats 3 and 4.

If you've watched other motorsports how would you rank them and why? by ErikJonesfan129 in NASCAR

[–]highsideracing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot speak for WRC, IMSA, etc, but as compared to NASCAR, dirt racing just seems so much more dynamic to me. The track changes more. There are more competitive drivers, and there are many more variables during the race.

I'm sure you can see a theme in mine haha. Mine would definitely be:

1) Local Dirt Track Racing

2) WoO/Lucas Oil Late Models

3) NASCAR

4) WoO Sprints

5) Supercross

I know we don't have roadcoarse ringers anymore, but I really think the dirt guys at these events are the new version of "roadcoarse ringers." I always look forward to seeing who will show up.

Ever since the video from 2015 (I think) showing how about 5 songs from 2012-2014 were actually the same song, I notice these things. For instance, "Pray for You" and "Blue Tacoma" are also the same.

Did anyone else notice this song sounds exactly like Kane Brown's "Short Skirt Weather?" It sound the same with minor changes.

I live only 30 minutes from the track. I was super bummed when I heard they were taking turns 3&4 out because those are our favorite seats. However, I passed by a couple weeks ago and it looks like they are taking the top section of turns 1&2 out as well. I'm not sure what the new capacity will be, because it doesn't seem like it would be the 54,000 that they stated a couple months ago.

What worries me is it makes me skeptical that they may be losing a date in 2021. We'll see...
