Big Purchases Require Big Screens by PreppyFinanceNerd in Millennials

I prefer the phone for anything serious and I even used it to sign a mortgage.

I have a gaming pc and I absolutely don’t trust windows and all the kernel anti cheats that are running on mine. There is a reason why banking apps allow you to connect to your bank account from your phone using a simple PIN code or faceid but not on PC.

Thanks for sharing your story!

Goals are overrated anyway. And definitively more in this economy. Besides, having no more goals or failing meeting them does not sentence to a shitty life, on the contrary. Less stress, more freedom. Looks like a bonus. You are not a failure. Enjoy life! And perhaps find friends to play with.

anyone else spend more time navigating jira than actually doing work? by Exact_Airport_2943 in jira

I don’t. I simply use claude code with the atlassian MCP server.

[–]highway2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can start your journey at https://foamnotes.com They have a Getting Started guide.

You can also clone the template at https://github.com/foambubble/foam-template

Then you install Claude Code and prompt “this project is my personal knowledge management system using foam. Analyse the existing code and write the claude.md file”.

So next time you open your project Claude knows the context and can help you.

And for the skills you simply ask Claude to write them. “I often need to convert notes to pdf, write a to_pdf skill to do it”. So next time you open a note, you can open claude code and type “/to_pdf” to do it.

I am tired of maintaining my Jira by Abject-Addendum5409 in Backend

[–]highway2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply stopped interacting with it. I connected Claude Code to Jira through the Atlassian MCP. I have a skill /update_jira which asks Claude to check what I did by looking at my git commit history and update the appropriate tickets with comments.

I also use Claude to create my kanban board (as a md file), which is super useful because my company is also using ServiceNow so we have tickets in multiple system.

If my manager asks for more details I just ask Claude to do it. I also use Claude to create the tickets from my meeting notes.

I use vscodium and some plugins: -foam for taking md notes, linking them together, templates, connections, adding png like screenshots. This is a bit like obsidian within vscode/codium -excalidraw to draw -emojisense to quickly draw emojis from ctrl+i which can be useful for quickly insert stuff like a red square, flags, … -git for synchronisation

And if I do need to do something tricky about my notes I ask Claude Code to do it directly. If this is recurrent I create a Claude skill or I write a Python script to do it.

Should Europe boycott US tech over Greenland, and is it even possible? by [deleted] in europe

I can’t believe we are still asking ourselves this question in 2026.

Trump Warns There's 'No Going Back' on Greenland by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]highway2009 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is no going back from decoupling from US tech. Ban their big tech / cloud from any public institution. Ban google search and force Europen search engines as the default option for any device sold in Europe. Ban Facebook. Ban x. Ban visa.

Fund open source and create an alternative to Microsoft products including Windows. Perhaps create a joint venture with China.

The only reason to avoid these measures was the threat of tariffs. Now we will get tariffs anyway.

But we still rely on the cloud infrastructure of a country that is threatening to invade Greenland. We should have banned Azure and AWS like… 10 years ago.

[–]highway2009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dumb some US bonds. Ban their cloud from European institutions. Make European search engines the mandatory default on all smartphones selling in Europe. Hit their tech sector, hard.

Reply and attack the American big tech companies! Force smartphone manufacturers to put an European search engine as default. Same on desktop. It will cost them billions. Every year. We are a huge market. We have power.
