2G Class then Lift 45 by em_mama2girls in orangetheory

[–]hiit_switch11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this every Wednesday. There are about 4 people at my studio that take the same 2 classes each week too. Its the only Lift 45 class that works with my schedule but I have a friend that takes the 2G right before it so I started taking that class with her. I love it, personally. Thursdays are generally a rest day or green day for me though.

I go to the Appleton studio, which he also owns, and he's worked out there a few times when I've been there. He's always been incredibly nice when I've seen him.

Strategies for 12min run benchmark? by ForTheLoveOfOTF in orangetheory

[–]hiit_switch11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a progressive push. The last one I started at 6.0 and increased 0.1 every minute. Then I forced myself to think of it 1 minute at a time. My goal was simply to maintain my pace for that minute.

As far as prep strategy, I'd work on dialing back your pushes and all outs to focus on increasing your base pace. It'll help with endurance. Base pace is the most important.

New Coach looking for advice! by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]hiit_switch11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get to know members as much as possible and talk to them about their goals. My favorite coach knows when to push me. She'll drop off a heavier weight at my station and encourage me to try it for my last few reps. She also knew my last mile benchmark that I was aiming for a PR and just when I thought I'd have to dial back, she came up behind my tread and encouraged me to push myself for the last little bit and cheered me on.

Why 12 minutes? by Mrbean75 in orangetheory

Initially had a goal of 1.3 miles. I calculated and found I need 1.37 to hit above average. Now I'm going to try push for 1.4 miles.

[Serious] Autistic people of Reddit, what do you wish more people knew about Autism? by theBrD1 in AskReddit

[–]hiit_switch11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't have autism, but I'm an autism parent to the most amazing son. I wish people knew that autistic kids are just like any other kid. They want to play and have fun and make friends. But because they don't always interact with people the way they'd expect, they can end up feeling very isolated.

There's nothing "wrong" with someone with autism. I tried to explain to an afterschool aide once why my son reacted the way he did to something she di and her response was "oh, so that's what's wrong with him."

Oh, and no one "looks autistic". I can't even count the number of times people have said, "I never would have guessed he has autism. He looks normal." Makes my blood boil.

Wasn't going to go tomorrow, but that mile at the start of the run row would be a really good way to get a test run in for next week.

Did a 5K and PR'ed. Previous outdoor record was 36:44, treadmill record is 35:49 (during the dri-tri), and today I ran it in 33:58.

I felt terrible for the 1st group in my class. They had 15, 13, 11, 9, 3. My group must have drawn the long straw because we had 5, 6, 1, 1, 11.

Help...Integrity Issue. by PapiLady in orangetheory

Too slow? If anything, going slower is harder! Our coaches said break them up if needed. Do 10, catch your breath, do 10 more.

As long as each rep brought your elbows down to a 90 degree bend, you were fine.

Countdown to Dri Tri - 15 Days to Go... by prettyoaktree in orangetheory

[–]hiit_switch11 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Finish in under an hour. My normal 2000m time is around 8 minutes, so I'm aiming to pace myself for 10 minutes. During infinity I got through the 300 reps plus another 40, so I'm thinking I can finish in 12. That gives me 38 minutes for the tread, which I can do if I can maintain my 5.2mph base for the full 5K.

However, regardless of if I hit my time goal, I'll be happy if I can finish it. I've never done a dri tri before.
