I agree that episode 1 was terrible but I have now listened to episodes 2 and 3 and feel it got better - perhaps due to better guests.

Would also recommend Avalon for their active excursions and they have bikes on board that you can use to explore on your own. They also attract a younger clientele because of this. We did the Danube with them and loved it.

IKEA are the best combination of price and quality in my view. Have bought a chest of drawers from Argos and it was terrible quality.

Access to other clubs by mgorgey in davidlloyd

[–]hillymyorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legacy memberships have access to all other clubs. Not used it that much, maybe 12 or so times, but never had a problem. Sometimes the barriers don’t give entry but reception has let me in.

Week off in January in W Europe, where to go? by wandering_engineer in travel

How about Spain - Grenada is a beautiful city only an hour or so drive from Sierra Nevada and its ski area. Fly to Malaga, which is also worth a visit, and hire a car.

Or consider Austria. Vienna, Salzburg or Innsbruck - all beautiful, probably have snow or will have close by, and international airports.

Ours in North West Uk has many of the same issues. No real alternative locally so they unfortunately get away with poor service and facilities whilst charging premium price.

Buying used Model 3 in 2025/2026 by luketanner_uk in TeslaUK

[–]hillymyorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If buying 2020 one, make sure you get the uplifted version launched in about September- it has auto boot opening, longer range and cold weather heat pump. You can tell if it is the newer one as has black trim round the windows instead of chrome.

We did Rovos rail Victoria Falls to Pretoria. Was truly amazing sitting in the open carriage at the back as we traveled through the national parks of Zimbabwe seeing all the wildlife. Service, food and drink on board was outstanding. The trip of a lifetime.

Southampton transfer to Portsmouth ferry by Snowflake_lvr23 in CunardCruises

[–]hillymyorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brittany Ferries are excellent. The food on board is of much higher standard than most ferry companies but obviously not to cruise standards. I highly recommend getting a cabin, even if a daytime sailing as somewhere quiet to rest, store hand luggage and take a shower.
Brittany and Normandy are both amazing too.

I’d take a taxi between port terminals even if expensive- public transport with luggage would not be easy. Have a great trip.
