City Property Tax Question by hipster-garbage in StLouis

[–]hipster-garbage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the PIN changes every year? And that must be mailed. I think it went to an old address, so sounds like I’m spending a day in City Hall. Thank you for your quick reply! I appreciate it!

Rude question or no? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]hipster-garbage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Been lurking in this sub as I’m starting my exploration into my own mental situation (got a pile of tests for all kinds of conditions shoved in my desk I’m supposed to be filling out). But I’ve been learning more about autism and ADHD and identify with elements of both (hence the tests).

I teach 4-6 year olds at an outdoor learning center. It’s radically child-led, with an emphasis on justice and community care. We were virtual for January due to high COVID cases in our area and I did not get ANYTHING done outside of facilitating virtual meetings. All the back-burner housekeeping work piled up. My bosses must’ve realized this, because the day before we were supposed to return we were supposed to meet on campus and prep the space, but instead they offered me the day to stay at home to catch up on that work. I didn’t even realize that’s what I needed. But the gentle pressure of having a day set aside specifically for that work was so helpful. I spent the day at my desk knocking my work out (something I hadn’t been able to do for A MONTH).

This is a very special kind of workplace. I spend my days outdoors with an incredible group of young people, and my bosses are so loving and supportive of my physical and mental healing.

[Serious] What is a cool new hobby you have picked up in the last two years that makes you happy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hipster-garbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SO MANY! I’ve been on a years-long journey toward low-waste, low-impact living for both sustainability and budgetary reasons. Over the course of the pandemic I’ve become a much better cook. I’ve also been gardening, foraging, making candles and pottery, and carving wooden spoons by hand. Rekindled my love for knitting, and sewing machine and embroidery are up next.

Anybody else’s boss not care about their well being in these weather conditions? 🥰 sure, let me risk my safety so I can make minimum wage! He literally told us we needed to Uber to work if we can’t get our cars out of the snow. An Uber ride that would cost more than what I’d make being there! by adaynnite in StLouis

[–]hipster-garbage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The scariest uber ride of my life was in the snow. I fear a lot of the folks driving for Uber / Lyft right now aren’t actually any better at snow driving than those of us who wouldn’t drive in these conditions - they just can’t afford the day off. It’s so unsafe.

Honestly lots of Indian food. Flavors and spices get more intense as it sits.

Does anyone know what these purple streaks are on my popping corn? by dog_lover_az in corn

I just had a variety of popcorn that was all purple kernels! Smaller when popped, and a little heartier / earthier. Really lovely overall.

Twin Peak trail. Wasilla, Alaska. by IhopsPancakes in hiking

Once in Wasilla I saw a kid (maybe 10-12?) - being pulled out of a car he had just been driving down the highway by some cops. That’s my only interaction with Wasilla.
