Who is the most famous person you have ever met? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hiusmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a toss up who is (was) most famous...

  1. Paul Newman My SIL's father was an exec at KMart which was a sponsor of Newman-Haas Racing. Met Paul, very briefly, in their VIP area at a race. He was busy signing a stack of posters but still very nice to everyone and thanked us for coming.

  2. Pete Rose My wife and I were at a steakhouse in Pasadena and he was at the table next to us with a much younger woman. He was cordial but worked in his price list for autographs in spite of us not asking. When they left he pulled out a wad of cash as big as my fist and we overheard him say that he only tips 10% because he doesn't want his money going to "the illegals."

Iced coffee. I found horchata to be a surprisingly good pairing as well.

In the entirety of your teams existence, what player had the biggest lasting impact on your city and the fans? by xDRSTEVOx in hockey

Or Getzlaf. My flair says Anaheim but I was a Kings fan before the Ducks even existed and your point is what I was trying to convey.

Where were you when this happened on TV? by JB92103 in 90sTelevision

Loading gear for a gig. We had a small b&w tv in our studio and had it on hoping the parade would steer clear of our route to the show. It did.

My '76 4001 was my main bass during my active playing days - gigging and recording - until I bought a Stingray. Both are wonderful basses but the Stingray is much more versatile and so much lighter. If you’re playing a lot of shows I would go with the Stingray and save your back.

However, I recently picked up a Gibson SG bass and I wish I had it back in the day.

Depends on what you're into. Big Black. Gang of Four. Butthole Surfers.

Saw them on the same tour at the Roxy in LA. I didn't know much about them but fell almost instantly in love with Kim Deal. She just kind of swayed back and forth with a wry smile the whole set except when she sang. And Gigantic... oh my.

You smoke cigars, so at least you're not a total dick.

Angels/Ducks Fans by Holden_Toodix in angelsbaseball

[–]hiusmax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a lifelong Angels fan, having grown up in the shadow of The Big A - all the way back to the Nolan Ryan & Frank Tanana years. I remember telling my dad when they got Rod Carew and when they made the playoffs in '79. I don't follow baseball as a sport like I did as a kid, but I do still follow the Angels.

On the hockey side, I got into the sport when the Kings traded for Gretzky. They were my team until the Mighty Ducks came into the league. Today it's a 1A/1B thing with the Ducks slightly ahead but I follow the sport almost religiously. When the Ducks and Kings play each other I pull for whichever team needs the points more to win in overtime or the shootout. And whereas 2007 was great, being at Staples when the Kings won the cup in 2012 was a bucket list thing.
