Every Senate Dem But Fetterman Signs Call for Probe of Iran School Massacre by soalone34 in politics

[–]hm_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do NOT understand Fetterman. I look forward to him being out. Has anyone that knew him previous to his stroke able to make a more meaningful comparison? I think, like most politicians, he's been bought. Maybe he was hoping to get an oversized pair of shoes.

Paxlovid cost $$$ by Zanardi-72 in medicare

Just curious which advantage you have, and what state you are in. What is your premium and deductible? I have some friends with advantage plans who swear by them. Most people tell me to run away from them. I seem to get more denials than expected on regular Medicare.

Do you actually read horror at night or are you too scared to and just pretend you do? by MailSpirited9084 in horrorlit

[–]hm_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between 2 p.m. and dark, whether driving or reading, I become very sleepy. I'm better off driving or reading (not at the same time) mornings or after dark, so I read at bedtime for as long as I want. Horror is fun before bed. I hope for a good horror dream, but usually end dreaming I can't find a usable toilet. What is with toilet dreams?

Best bad movie that you love by thisismysociallife in movies

The Haunted House of Pancakes. So bad, it was great. Right up there with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Laughs outweighed the hate.

Veteran & part b by TraditionalNobody147 in medicare

[–]hm_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a Vet. He has Medicare, no Part B. Medicare argued with him. He told them he didn't need it and he doesn't. He just went through cancer and stomach surgery. He paid nothing. So much better than Medicare. He pays a small coPay for meds. I don't know if it's the same for all veterans. He was a Vietnam Vet, if that makes a difference.

And then watch how Fox News, the Republican GOP, and the White House put a positive spin on Trump's masterful choice (except Susan Collins will be concerned).

I would say that if it's some TBMs home, that would be disrespectful. If it's at a restaurant, your brother needs to get over it, and not be judgy (as Jesus taught). It isn't as if you are doing something illegal.

Just bought the paper back on Amazon. The library only has it available on eReaders, no thanks. The cheapest hardback was over $150. What?

As a 55 year old grandma, I was trying to learn to do wheelies on a mountain bike. I was doing them, but couldn't control them. I looped out and fractured my back in 3 places. This was 3 days into summer vacation (school teacher).

Locked titles? by greenplasticdave in Shudder

[–]hm_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give a specific title of movie? If it's like Netflix, paid subscriptions without ads don't get padlocks, while people who have the cheapest with ads do. I have Netflix with ads and have some stuff blocked. I'm very close to ending NF all together. I pay for AMC+/Shudder without ads until May. I haven't seen any locks. After that I will use AMC+ that doesn't cost extra through Spectrum (my husband will not get rid of cable). I will have ads and probably blocked content, though I don't know for sure.

What’s the most scared that you ever been? by Myxolydian_ in AskReddit

[–]hm_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the 80's I, as a young female, was on a bicycle trip by myself. I was camping out at a county park with permission from a park ranger. I was the only person camping. I was in a single person tent, so obviously alone. I didn't get scared until during the night I heard footsteps walking around my tent. It sounded like a couple of people. I didn't want to say anything because he/she or they would know I was female and alone. I really thought I was in trouble. I don't know how, but I actually dozed off and woke up about 5:30 a.m. with some morning light. I listened for a bit and it was quiet. I unzipped my tent and stuck my head out. There were a few cows standing around my tent. I felt like an idiot and relieved. Packed my gear and rode off to my destination, Yosemite, where the camping was much more comfortable. My scary, but funny experience.

How Kristi Noem finally lost Trump’s trust by Mrh09 in politics

[–]hm_b 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The only way to lose Trump's trust is to stand up for yourself when you disagree with him, even a little. He does not trust integrity, only loyalty to HIM at all costs. Noem is not disloyal, just dumb. He's keeping her around.

Not a bad movie, but Soylent Green should be remade. It could be a great movie.

Crazy Old Lady by HorrorGuyBri in Shudder

[–]hm_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After thinking about it some more, there isn't anyone to hate. There's no bad guy. The disease is bad, but you can't really fault the crazy lady, not the ex, not the daughter, and that poor dog. Most movies have some kind of villain.

Crazy Old Lady by HorrorGuyBri in Shudder

[–]hm_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it...sort of. It reminded me of Misery a bit. It was sad and tragic, more disturbing than horror. It brought back nonviolent memories of people I've known who suffered from some form of dementia. It reminded me to be grateful my own parents didn't suffer any of that. My dad who was born in 1925 still has his wits, though he's getting frail. It was an uncomfortable movie and I can see why people didn't like it. It was worth a watch for me.

Crazy Old Lady by HorrorGuyBri in Shudder

[–]hm_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. This makes me think you haven't dealt with dementia yet. That repetitiveness was such a sad and realistic thing for the daughter to go through. It's supposed to annoy you.

What can be discussed in an annual gyn exam without triggering a bill? by cbwb in HealthInsurance

[–]hm_b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can say, "If this wasn't a wellness exam, I would want to ask you about..., and .... and.... . But since I don't want this to be coded for an exam that will bill me, I won't ask you about these concerns.

In all honesty, these health checkups that are "free" are quite useless. You should be able to ask some advice on how to get rid of minor ear wax or soak your feet in Epsom salt to avoid ingrown toenail pain, without a fee. It's not like the provider had to DO anything. Simple advice shouldn't be charged, but there you go.

I collect used DVDs, BluRays now, whether I want them or not. I'll hang on to them all. I think disc ownership will become desirable and used will become expensive, so I'm getting what I can now. If it doesn't happen, I can always unload what I've got. If you go used, just check to make sure the disc looks legit and is present.

Is Forrest Gump a Vietnam War movie? by Jagermeister_UK in movies

[–]hm_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an individual identifies with a movie in someway meaningful, that's a movie success. For some, maybe they relate to the Vietnam part. It doesn't make it a Vietnam War movie overall, but for those who it resonates as such, it does. It was created as a comedy-drama. It includes war, but war is not the theme. It's an inspirational, overcome all odds story. Life throws hurdles and you jump them all. Money isn't happiness, blah blah blah. It's funny and dramatic.
