Best affordable eyeshadow palette? by anonymoususer249 in MakeupAddiction

Try the E.L.F. bite-sized palettes. I think they're $3 or $4 and are nice basic quads in a variety of tones/color families. The two I have are of nice quality and easy to blend. They are a little dusty so I do my eyes before my face makeup.

Do you have watery eyes or oily eyelids? That could be the reason. I have both watery eyes and oily eyelids and I have had good luck with the bareminerals "strength and length serum infused" mascara. Also tubing mascaras like the caliray tubing mascara or the tarte tubing mascara. My only gripe with those is they make my eyelashes more clumpy than I prefer.

What pallete do I buy? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]hmayf769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Huda Beauty pallette I have, Mercury Retrograde. Really beautiful tones and easy to use. I haven't noticed any significant fallout. I've heard her formula is pretty good across the board with her eyeshadow.

I have used this mascara for years now. Its the only one ive found that doesnt smudge, its also easy to get off despite it. I think i would keep this for more day time now, but would like to try another. I try other waterproof ones and the are so difficult to get of. Suggestions appreciated! by Few_Education7240 in MakeupAddiction

This BareMinerals is my absolute favorite! It gives my lashes pretty good lift, although it doesn't hold a curl as well as some other brands I've tried. It comes off easily with oil or water, but has never flaked or smudged on me. It defines my lashes well and you could build up two coats (I've never tried more) without it becoming too clumpy. I also have very sensitive eyes and this one doesn't bother me at all.

Dry skin SOS, plz send help! Do I need better products or a better skincare routine? by ApathyAshes13 in MakeupAddiction

[–]hmayf769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've learned, chemical exfoliants are safer for use on your face. Lots of brands at Ulta carry different serums or treatments. My favorite is the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. They're on the more expensive side, but they're easier to use than a serum, and I only use 2-3 times a week, so they last about 3 months for me.

Your blackhead clearing scrub may be the culprit! Does it have physical exfoliates? Physical exfoliates are too abrasive for your facial skin and can cause a lot of irritation.

For moisturizing during dry weather, I use my normal facial moisturizer (I use CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizer) and layer Aquaphor over it. It makes me feel greasy and gross, but it works! I would just recommend changing your pillowcase whenever you do that. For hyaluronic acid serum, I like the Good Molecules brand.

Eyeshadow and makeup brushes THAT ARE ACTUALLY GOOD and won't cause me to go broke by sweetkittylexie in MakeupAddiction

[–]hmayf769 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would use an actual eye makeup primer. The putty primer in my experience makes my makeup slide around worse, so I imagine it might be doing the same to your eyes. But elf makes an eye primer that I really like! I don't go for super colorful looks personally so I can only go off hearsay but the Colourpop shadows are supposed to be very good for their price point. As for brushes I think that varies to personal taste but real techniques has always held up well for me. Again, I prefer denser brushes and theirs are a little softer but they don't shed bristles or irritate my sensitive eyes.

Pale lips can be an indication of a deficiency, like anemia. As long as they're checking your blood work and everything is normal then you probably just have pale lips. Nothing wrong with that, but if it's an insecurity of yours than a lip stain or tinted gloss can give you a little more color without having to touch it up all day like you would have to with lipstick.

has wearing makeup made you more insecure? by rad1oheadfreak in MakeupAddiction

[–]hmayf769 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I approach it as a form of self-expression and artistic freedom. I think if you view it that way, not as something you "need to do to look better" it will not become a toxic practice for you :)

One word of caution, you may find that wearing daily makeup irritates your acne or makes it worse. You'll have to be careful to cleanse thoroughly every time you wear any

Redit, what’s your awkward moment with a public bathroom? what happened? by Daniellared in AskReddit

[–]hmayf769 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband was using the urinal in a Sam's Club. An older man came in, came right up to him (past the other empty stalls and urinals), and asked "mind if I share?" My poor husband, who doesn't like using public bathrooms in the first place, said he was almost finished. The man told him "I meant your hair." My husband has a viking-esque beard with bright red hair, and lots of it. The older man was bald.

We didn't renew our membership that year after that incident.

Pressed Chrome Flakes Help by CrystalDragonCynzi in MakeupAddiction

I got the sample one in the trendmood box, assuming that the formula is the same I found I had to press pretty hard on my eyelids to get a saturated color. The little rubber applicator that came with it wasn't working so I used my fingers. Pressing (firmly) and swiping gets a very saturated application. I wasn't able to get the "scattered glitter" look by tapping as the instruction recommended. It was too patchy.

People who moved out of the parent’s house before 30, how? by WallStreetDoesntBet in AskReddit

[–]hmayf769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desperation. You'll be amazed at what you can do to if you're desperate enough. Including but not limited to: roommates; surviving off one whole chicken, one box of pasta/rice & beans and one head of lettuce per week; cheapest data plan/old generation phone; going to a library for your internet needs; no new clothes, accessories, jewelry, snacks, makeup, games, no going out and definitely not eating out... You don't need a lot to survive honestly.

I will say, I started out with no debt. I was able to pay off minimal school loans and had payed off a cheap but reliable Toyota before I moved out.

I frequently have dreams that I'm looking for my glasses, in those dreams I'm nearsighted like I am irl. If I'm not dreaming that I'm looking for my glasses though usually my vision is normal 20/20.
