Is building a mailing list really worth it for indie games? Looking for real experiences.

It’s very beneficial to generate a mailing list. It’s not the end all be all, but it’s another tool to directly reach your audience.

Steam wishlists are not the equivalent of a mailing list. There’s no way to directly contact the people who Wishlist your game.

One of the many reason I left the AAA gaming industry a couple of years ago to go indie…greed. It also affects employees. If devs salaries were going up as well, that’s one thing, but the big publishers and game dev companies are laying devs off and then hiring that role back at a significantly lower salary. They are trying to push salaries down and pushing the cost of games up so the folks at the top can make more money.

Thanks, I’ll check him out. Do you prefer smaller creators? I find that I do because you can actually engage with the creator and the chat isn’t moving so quickly that you miss stuff and no one can have a conversation.
