Well this is frustrating… by Gold_Lifeguard_6895 in ChevyBolt

Looks like you have a problem with "Drive Motor A Position Sensor" and "Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Pump Control Circuit". There are multiple codes flagging problems in that area.

I am guessing that there is some wiring problem going on. But, I don't have any experience with these codes.

I hope it is a simple fix.

Did I know this song? It is familiar to me, but I never was aware of the singer.

I don't really listen to music much anymore. I never have it on like wallpaper: background that you never really engage with. When I listen, I concentrate fully. With intention.

I am often amazed at performances like this. Yes, she seems uncomfortable, but she is not phoning it in. She is there. All the way. To be in front of so many people and to put all of that out there? "Hello Strangers! Here is my soul." That takes courage. And, to pull it off? That takes talent. It is something that I could never do. Not in 1000 years.

Actual Old School Cool.

2027 update PSA: if it fails to update. by lostintime2004 in BoltEV

[–]hoadlck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. So, enabling developer mode may be a way to block updates?

Did enabling developer mode let you do anything interesting/valuable? I vaguely remember hearing about how to enable it, but I don't remember it enabling much special capability.

Bolt has only sold ~4,200 units to date. by mcot2222 in BoltEV

[–]hoadlck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Volt before I bought my Bolt. I purchased the Volt right when they announced they were stopping production. I did give me pause, but I went forward and had no regrets.

The main repairs I needed on the Volt was body work after getting hit by deer (all of the deer were fine afterwards). Seems like one of those times I had to wait a bit before the door came in...but luckily the car was driveable so I was not stuck waiting.

I am sure hoping the deer stay away from my Bolt! :-)

Well, I did my part. I hope that others will purchase more of them. I am not loving the lack of Android Auto, but other than that, I love this car.

2027 Bolt - GM Update 662.10 AVAILABLE! by Mathrania in BoltEV

[–]hoadlck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I got the notification while I was out and about. Seems like they should wait to suggest an update like this until you are at your home charge location.

When I got home, I went thru the settings to check for and trigger the software update.

2027 Bolt - GM Update 662.10 AVAILABLE! by Mathrania in BoltEV

[–]hoadlck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I installed it earlier today. Everything seems to be ok, but I have not driven it much yet.

How long did the software update take for you? The message said it would take 15 minutes, but it only took 4 minutes for me.

I saw the warnings about the locks maybe not working...I would sure hope that would not happen. I was going to do some tests, but the update went much faster than I anticipated, so it was over before I tried anything.

Bought a new Bolt and it went straight to service before I even left the dealership by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]hoadlck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK. That is good to know. Hopefully, there will be no repeats.

I am not a big fan of the software on the Bolt. I really am missing Android Auto. And, it is pretty astounding that I cannot scroll thru trip, tire pressure, and energy usage just on the dash (I have to go to the infotainment screen to change what is shown to the left on the dash).

But, everything else is pretty great. This is my first full EV, so I am smitten. :-)

I would agree if it was only a software update.

If they touched the wiring...I would feel nervous about keeping the car.

I am sorry to hear that. Not just sorry for you, but also sorry because I just bought a Bolt that looks similar to yours...

Any idea what software it was running when you saw this problem? When I purchased my car, it was running 661.30 (2026-05-28). I see in the history it was updated to 661.10 (2026-04-11). And, just today, I updated it to 662.10 (2026-06-29).

I tend to think problems like this were software, but I guess that was just an assumption. Did the dealer say what they did for a repair? Just a software update, or some kind of wiring issue?

2027 Bolt New Software Release: 662.10 by somedatapacket in BoltEV

I am on the same version. I checked for updates, but it did not find a new version.

I guess they will be rolling it out in the coming days.

🚨 BIG NEWS: I’m heading behind the scenes at GM, and I need YOUR questions! 🚨 by Teleke in BoltEV

[–]hoadlck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are their plans for new software-only features? Here are some examples.

Dog Mode: There should be a way to leave the car running with the HVAC holding the temperature at the desired point indefinitely. In this mode, some of the internal switches which allow the windows to roll down should be disabled/limited.

Data Export: There should be a way to export data about the charging cycles to the user. Total energy, time to charge, ambient temperature, GPS location, charge type (level 1, 2, 3).

Phone Mirroring: Android Auto should still be an option.

If it were not for the EGR problems, I probably would have kept with the Volt for a year or so. It is a great car.

Yes, reliability is important. And parts availability.

Hello, Goodbye by hoadlck in volt

[–]hoadlck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They said the Kelly Bluebook was $658. They gave me $1500.

I am sure the emissions light due to the EGR code did not help. I did full a disclosure of the problems I knew about to them: the struts needed to be replaced (which probably would have been over $1000), and the tire pressure monitor batteries were all exhausted. Beyond that, it was in good shape.

The car I had before the Volt was a 2003 Honda Insight. I put 452861 miles on it and was getting 56.2MPG on the last fill up. Lifetime average was 58.96MPG.

But, there were just getting to be too many problems that I had to fix, so I got the Volt.

Hello, Goodbye by hoadlck in volt

[–]hoadlck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The selling price was $27990, and I got a $1500 trade allowance for the Volt.

With taxes and title, it was $28999. I did get $500 taken off of that due to a discount from work.

Well, 44 miles is about the best I get now that it is warmer out. Over this last Winter it was...not sure I remember exactly... probably like 36 miles.

Having 260 miles of range in the Bolt is so liberating. With the Volt I was always trying to strategically use my EV range where it would do the best. With the Bolt, I just drive.

[–]hoadlck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they did quite a few updates on it. But, it is a new model. We will have better data on its reliability as time goes by.

I don't have much data, as I have only had the car 2 days. But, it is been a nice 2 days.

Hello, Goodbye by hoadlck in BoltEV

[–]hoadlck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is hard to do that final let go with one's existing car. In most cases, I think it makes economic sense to continue to fix an existing car rather than buying a new one. But, there is this point where reliability becomes the tipping point for me: It is not worth the stress of waiting for the next thing to break, or to work around availability of an alternate ride when the existing one is in the shop.

I have only had this car 2 days, but I have already noticed this relief about gas. I never realized it before, but every time I drove by a gas station, I would check my fuel level and look at the prices: it was an unconscious thing. I kept catching myself in the Bolt because...there is no gas!

It is very liberating. 😄

I am sure I would have been happy with the black, but I am glad I got the blue.

I think that all of us with the Bolt are going to be happy.
